Shane replied to Shane's discussion Which parts of Bhagavad-Gītā should be read literally?
"Hare Krsna, In Shloka 9.32, you don't interpret lower birth to mean inferior and you interpret Arjuna's war to be physical (killing) rather than a spiritual war. Is this correct?"

Shane replied to Shane's discussion Which parts of Bhagavad-Gītā should be read literally?
"Hare Krsna, once again, thanks for your very concise answers. To summarise - followers of Krsna consciousness believe Bhagavad-gītā and related scriptures should be read literally unless the text specially states that it is meant figuratively. Even…"

"Hare Krsna Bharat, thanks for your thoughtful answers. It seems my own beliefs about God are not so far from Krsna Consciousness as I imagined"

Shane replied to Shane's discussion Which parts of Bhagavad-Gītā should be read literally?
    "Hare Krsna Bharat,
Did I incorrectly paraphrase Srila Prabhupada who said the Bhagavatam there are some figurative stories, similar to Aesop’s Fables?
Could the war that Krsna advised Arjuna to fight in be a figurative war? For example, could it…"

Which parts of Bhagavad-Gītā should be read literally?
Hare Krishna!According to this interview with Srila Prabhupada, parts of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam should be read literally, other parts should be understood as allegories. Does this also apply to Bhagavad-Gītā? Did Lord Kṛṣṇa tell Arjuna to literally fight…

When, where and how did you come into contact with the Hare Krishna Movement?

In July 2024, I bumped into a Hare Krishna festival on Dam Square in Amsterdam

Name the nearest or most frequently Visited ISKCON temple/ centre and name few of the devotees whom you know.

    Rotterdam

Please describe yourself so that other like minded devotees can find you.

I like watching the ecstacy of kirtan, live or on youtube. I chant the Mahā-mantra in my head many times everyday to relieve anxiety and stress. I have been a vegetarian since 2015 and just started trying out the Hare Kṛṣṇa Cook Book. The food is fantastic!
