When, where and how did you come into contact with the Hare Krishna Movement?
Detroit, Mi. USA in 1983 I visited (got Bhagavad-Gita at the zoo) Easter Sunday feast. Naikatma was temple President. I shaved up that night. Called work the next day to leave my job. Moved in, cleaned pots for six months, distributed books for three years. Trained up by Dasarath Prabhu in Ann Arbor, and later in Tucson. Presently serving as pujari/ preacher in Detroit. Loving every moment of service, Krsna's mercy increases as each day passes. I am getting a taste for Krsna Consciousness I would never have realized on any other path. All glories to Srila Prabhupad, all glories to Their Lordships, Sri Sri Radha Kunjabhi hari. All glories to the assembled devotees and anyone who reads this and surrenders to Krsna. Hari bol Ekanta Das.
Name the nearest or most frequently Visited ISKCON temple/ centre and name few of the devotees whom you know.
I am currently serving in Deva Sadhan Mandir in Detroit, as a pujari and preacher giving morning classes, and Sunday feast lectures, among other things.
We are blessed to be having the darshan in Detroit of Sri Nandanandana recently awarded 'Sri Padma' honor from the nation of India, his wife, Mother Cintamani , Jagad Guru leading pujari/ temple president, and his wife Mother Sri Radha, Braj kumar, Father of 3 children also standing in as temple president, and his wife Mother Karuna, They are our 3 presidents. All the devotees are too numerous to number here in the short space allowed.
Please describe yourself so that other like minded devotees can find you.
I am currently "semi-retired". I stay in the temple and cook breakfast for the Deities, and do 2 or 3, arotiks every day. I take the most pleasure in giving class.
I used to have a radio show given to me by Bhuma deva Prahu, "Spirits in the Material World". I was able to read all of Srila Prabhupada's introductory books to the audience. Although at that time the station was only putting out 50 watts After returning to the station years later I renamed it "What the world needs Now". With its increase to 500 watts they were reaching approsimately 10,000 people. Besides getting the opportunity to help teach some students reading writing, and arithmatic; broadcasting Krsna's Truths in every way possible has been my aim and I find it the most rewarding and fulfilling experience: giving classes and having them put online. All glories to anyone who is spreading the glories of Krsna Consciousness.
What are your expectations from this community?
I would just like to have access to discuss the various aspects of Krsna Consciousness being discussed on IDT. Maybe once in a while offer my perspective gained by service I have performed for the last 42 years in Iskcon.
Describe any specific service you would love to offer to Lord Krishna & His devotees?
I am currently fully engaged in cooking breakfast 6 days a week. I offer arotiks 2 to 3 times a day and I give classes regularly.
