When, where and how did you come into contact with the Hare Krishna Movement?
I was introduced to the movement in 2009. I was introduced by my World Religions professor when he taught our class about Hinduism. For every religion we took a field trip to the local worship area and for the Hindu section, we visited the ISKCON temple. My journey into spiritual life has been gradual. My mother was a non-practicing Catholic (and disagreed with most of the Catholic beliefs) and my father was a Bahai'. I was raised as a Bahai' until he decided to leave his body when I was 12. At that point I had tried to move closer to religion, and soon realized that I didn't know or understand what Bahai' was truly about. I researched Bahai'sm and did not agree with the beliefs. From there as a middle school girl I started at the basics: Paganism. I appreciated the outlook that everything has a spirit/soul and that God has a male and female aspect to him. I started straying away from Paganism when I began attending local pagan get-togethers and felt pushed into practicing witchcraft. I felt that life was best when one would let karma have it's natural order rather than interfere, so I took this World Religions class at my college in hopes that I may find the wisdom I was looking for. I was very fortunate that we happened to attend a Wednesday Feast at the New Gundica temple nearby. :)
