This group is a place, a Satsang, for all non initiated devotees (plain clothes devotees, as I like to call them) to meet, chat, get to know each other, and grow in their Krishna consciousness together in a more relaxed setting.

  • Hare Krishna, Glenda!

I started this group several months back as just a idea, really. To create a space, a place, a forum for people that are Krishna conscious, but who may not really see themselves as initiated Vaishnava's and fully engaged ISKCON members (at least of the external outward temple). I was intending and hoping for a cyberspace environment where people could get to know each other and share their understandings as they see them, free of extreme orthodoxy. Well, as it turns out, there aren't too many people that have a whole lot to say here. So I occasionally (about once a week) send various Krishna conscious materials to the group. Even that has slowed down due to the total lack of participation from any of the members. ISKCON Desire Tree is a place that you really have to navigate the whole thing for and by yourself, really. There are some friendly devotees that make an effort to communicate. But at least as far as I am concerned, there are few and far in between. If of course you would like to change that dynamic with some conversation and or questions about your devotional service or mine, and such, then please feel free to start a dialogue.

Thank you for joining my group and HariBol!
  • Hare Krishna Dear devotees, I'm very new to this group and a bit unsure what exactly this group is all about? Please can someone enlighten me? Thank you so much. Yhs, Glenda.

2532159524?profile=originalThe original spiritual planet, which resembles the whorl of a lotus flower, is called Goloka Vrndavana and is the abode of Lord Krishna. This original planet is located in the spiritual sky, beyond the limits of the material creation. Also in the spiritual sky are unlimited spiritual planets called Vaikunthas. These Vaikuntha planets are each dominated by a specific expansion of Lord Krishna and the inhabitants there are ever-liberated living beings.<br/>The material creation is a product of the mahat-tattva, which is the Lord's dreaming state. The Lord lies down in the water called the Causal Ocean and as he sleeps innumerable universes are generated with His breath. In each of these universes the Lord enters again as Garbhodakashayi Vishnu. From His navel sprouts a lotus stem, and from that lotus, Brahma is born. Brahma is designated as the creator of this universe and he creates all living beings of different types as well as the moon the sun and other demigods

'Invisible Tilak' for the work-a-day devotee.

How do you wear your devotion to work?  For Plain clothes devotees, the desire to dress with devotion and then go to work in the material world may have some conflict.  When I was younger and new to KC, I would wear a Kurta (devotional shirt) and a Chaddar (prayer shawl) to places I worked. Back then, I was a performance artist, so most people didn't mind.  But in other venues, I was looked at as a little "out-of-it".     When I asked the devotees what to do, they gave me suggestions to…
