Lord Krsna glorifies the status of the Brahmanas

This chapter is entitled Arjuna kidnaps Subhadra but that is a very small portion in this chapter. In most of this chapter we are discussing Krsna's visit to Mithila and his talk to King and the brahmana respectively.

In this section of the chapter Lord Krsna is reciprocating with the Brahmana's hospitality. It is explained that he is a pure devotee and here he is offering so much glorification to Lord Krsna and the sages who have accompanied lord Krsna. And in reciprocation Lord Krsna is glorifying the Brahmanas.

It is explained by Srila Vishwanatha Chakravarthi Thakur that in the course of glorifying Krsna the brahmana actually didn't get a chance to glorify the sages who had accompanied Krsna. So Krsna is reminding him that these people are also great.

It happens so. Sometimes when we glorify a prime person, we tend to neglect.

Here this is what the acharyas are explaining. Here the brahmana himself is included in that. The brahmana is worshipping Krsna in his home. So, Lord Krsna is very nicely glorifying the status of the Brahmanas. And it is explained in this particular shloka wherein Lord Krsna is speaking by his very words that the Brahmana is the best of all living beings in this world.

Brahmano Janmana Sreyan
Sarvesam Praninam iha
Tapasa vidyaya tustya
Kim u mat-kalaya yutah

By his very birth a brahmana is the best of all living beings in this world and he becomes even more exalted when he is endowed with austerity, learning and self satisfaction, what to speak of devotion to Me .
