Hare Krishna, Dear devotees.

I created this group because i saw many people are submitting their work on this site, and it would be good to have it all in one place. Poetry is to me very important because it is a form of expression that can convey our emotions in a very powerful, direct way. Being poetic is one of the 26 qualities of a devotee, and we can see that throughout history many great devotees and acharyas have composed beautiful prayers in praise of the Lord. Of course, we should not get carried away and become proud of our writing, but we definitely can take time to praise the Lord according to our realization.

I found a nice quote from Srila Prabhupada yesterday on this topic. In a lecture given in New Vrindavan on June 6, 1969, Prabhupada said -
"You write something; the aim should be simply to glorify the Supreme. Then your literature is pavitra, purified. And however nicely, either literally or metaphorically or poetically, you write some literature which has nothing to do with God, or Krsna, that is vayasam tirtham. That is pleasure spot for the crows.
This is the version of Narada Muni. We should be taking note of this. And for the Vaisnava there is one qualification: poetic. You should... Everyone should be poetic. So... But that poetry, that poetry language, should be simply to glorify the Lord. Then it is... Just like Narottama dasa Thakura, Bhaktivinoda Thakura, Locana dasa Thakura, they are poets. They have produced so many songs. But about whom? About Krsna.

Anything written with no connection to the Lord has no value, however poetic, while anything written about Krsna sincerely is perfect, despite any seeming mistakes. In the purport of Adi 16.102, Prabhupada says -
"In explaining the glories of the Lord, inexperienced men may compose poetry with many faults, but because it contains glorification of the Lord, great personalities read it, hear it and chant it." Despite its minute literary discrepancies, one must study poetry on the merit of its subject matter. According to Vaiṣṇava philosophy, any literature that glorifies the Lord, whether properly written or not, is first class. There need be no other considerations.

So I encourage everyone to join in the eternal glorification of Lord Krishna, who is known as Uttamasloka, the one who is praised by the choicest poetry.
Hare Krsna!

Lord Sri Krishna Jaya!

The source of all knowledge throughout time and space,

Beautiful and blissful He is pure Love.

His lotus like eyes and His sweet smiling face,

Makes the heart soar so high up like a dove.

His skin is the color of a monsoon cloud,

His hair is black like a starless night sky.

He is the greatest God of who we are proud,

He is the absolute truth that’s no lie.

His Hair has a wonderful peacock feather,

His clean yellow cloths shines bright like the sun.

He is the real reason we come together,

He is our true love the thoughtful one.

He plays his fantastic flute for devotees,

He is the ultimate Lord of the dance.

His lovers swarm around Him like bumblebees,

He represents pure and perfect romance.

His little left hand pinky can lift a hill,

He is the prowess of powerful men.

The cosmic creation works under His will,

He is fame and fine speech of all women.

He perfectly protects all of His true friends,

He is The Time and Death for the demons.

He will still be there after the Earth ends,

He shines like the sun in all four seasons.

His love is the true goal of all religion,

He is kinder than the closest of kin.

Life should be lived for His satisfaction,

Doing otherwise we live life in sin.

The sacred scriptures sing of His great glory,

Telling the tales of how He got His fame.

Sages inspire us all with His story,

Lo and behold Lord Krishna is His name!

Jo prabbhu khevat ko dinho
Jo prabhu baali ko dinho
Bus hari mohe aasun ko dinho
tumhare charan assuan se pakharun
Tumhare darahan ka man pyasa
Aatmaa milne ko tarse
Prabhu prarabhdh se mukti denho
Abb mohe nirmal bhakti dinho
Keshav kab prabho aaoge
Naynan tarse hey raghuraya
Antarman tumko na abb tak paya
Tumhari hai ik dhundhli chavi man mein
Kyon abb tak na darsh dikhaya
Aana jana tumhari maya
Abb dedo prabhu charnan chaya

Kamal pushp tumhri muskan
man bawara ho chala
jab tak chale tumhari aur kadam
jevan pao mein
jis ber tumhse door chalun sanson ko bhi bhulaon mein
prabhoooo man pukare door tak
kab har pal tumhare darshan pain mein

om hariii.....prabhu sharnam

Radha Krsna

Ruling with her great golden complexion,

A bright shining star shining so sweetly.

Displaying her sweet awesome affection,

Her enchanting eyes see Him perfectly,

Always she stands strong in pure devotion.

Keeping his Loving Lotus eyes open,

Ready to save the damsels in danger.

Smiling sweetly He wills worlds with His pen,

Never there to display unjust anger,

Always there standing strong as perfection.

Radiantly Her Love graces the Land,

As she smiles so sweetly thinking of Him.

Dreaming of the times they were hand in hand,

Here loving thoughts fill her heart to the brim

Always she knows He is at Her command. (Jaya Radha)

Krsna steals butter and sweet Radha’s heart,

Ruling as one Love they just steal show.

Surpassing all others playing their part,

Needless to say, freely both their Love Flow,

Always in sweet song and dance, perfect art!
