There is no greater blessing than having a sadhu by your side. And that in sum and substance is my story for today. I was fortunate to travel with my big spiritual brother, Bhakti Brnga Govinda Swami, a monk from Tennessee. I have written about him in the past, mentioning that he personally spent time with Elvis, who used to baby-sit him as a kid, but more important to me, was his guardianship to me when I was just a new bhakta. He is one of the first persons I met who was Krishna Conscious.
I was a college student looking for a sense of community. Lo and behold, there they were, five wonderful creatures, monks, who really stood out when I was walking on the street one day near Christmas. I invited them to my apartment for an overnight stay and he, B.B. Govinda Swami, had the patience to sit down and read a pastime about Krishna. It solidified a spiritual inclination.
Fast forward and he and I found ourselves in the vehicle driven by Indresh, his family also as passengers, along with godsister, Praharana, enroute to our temple in Huntsville, ISKCON Muskoka. So we had quality time together at that gorgeous escape, the temple and restaurant. We stopped by at Lim's lookout and Port Sydney beach and cascades.
There, by an ancient-looking crafted table, we sat, discussing some dynamics, good and challenging. Our blessed movement, the Hare Krishna culture, has been around for 60 years now. We have grown and undergone some maturing. That was our reflection at the old hand-crafted rustic table-and-chair structure by the waterfalls - experiences of love over 6 decades.
