The actor and director of this film are successful in their domain of acting and film direction. They have brought out social/ religious issues in movie and tried to prove that the religious customs being followed are wrong. They have also recommended remedial prescription for the same.
However, there is a basic question. Can we follow the medical prescription suggested by a successful entrepreneur? Or can a man successful in one domain of life fix the problem related to other areas?
As movies may affect the collective consciousness of people. It is important to analyze each and every problem highlighted in the movie. Also, it is important to know whether the so called problems in movie has been observed from being outside, without getting into a basic analysis, empathy, respect and understanding. Or there is holistic approach in drawing these conclusions.
But if it proves that all these claims are based on superficial understanding, we must collectively reject their prescription as it may be suicidal for the society as a whole.
Let us discuss issues raised one by one.
Why waste milk by pouring on God’s image when His children are starving?
When we analyze this point honestly we will find that the so called scarcity of natural resources is just created by our greed. God has supplied everything that will fulfil our need but that cannot satisfy our greed. There cannot be scarcity of milk if we protect mother cow but in place of protecting her we are operating thousands of slaughter houses that may cut and process meat of thousands of cattle every day.
Apart from this, Now think that how much is the cost of the milk that is being poured on God’s image. By discussing with some persons who actually do it, it emerged that this cost is even less Rs 10 (cost of small chips packet containing around 15gm chips). Now let us see what is the cost of eating out at restaurant and watching a movie now a days. It may range from few hundreds to few thousands. Have we ever thought that today we will not waste so much money in eating outside instead we will give grains to some poor family nearby our house.
No, it is very difficult to take out money from our pocket and to give it to others because we are so attached to the money that we can only waste the same to see movie like PK but cannot give it someone who needs that. However, we will be number one in queue who will say that instead of pouring milk in God’s image give it to poor. This is irony of the situation. We must agree that the one who performs spiritual activities can only be gradually detached from the material possessions and help someone by offering milk or food. Only he can perform charitable activities for the welfare of society.
Therefore, only pointing that the milk to be given to starving children rather than offering to Lord, it should also be understood that in place of wasting so much money for our own pleasure, can we not take out some money from our pocket to help society by stopping us from going out for eating and watching movie just once a month. The money thus collected will be huge and will definitely help the poor as well as the nation.
