Question: Why Are People by Nature Godless?

Dear Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances at your lotus feet.

In the Bhagavad-gita Krishna is saying that if He does not teach the universe to live in a godly way, godlessness will prevail. Why does godlessness prevail, not godliness? In other words, why are people by nature godless?

Answer: Godly Nature is Covered by Godlessness

Everyone is by nature godly. It is only due to bad association that the godly become godless. This is why we must expand the Krishna consciousness movement more and more, to help all men regain their original godly nature. At the present time it is through the Krishna consciousness movement that God is teaching the entire world how to become godly.
