Highway 43 was just heaven for us as we practically sailed along at our 3 a.m. starting point, headed south for Edmonton! At that hour, you are not really dealing with traffic. It is one big wide-open prairie road! Only one spot is notorious for thick fog as driver Raj Gopal took us through the density. A special alert for moose is necessary in such spots.
Our arrival at the Ramada Inn four hours later concluded a job well done! Shifting drivers is always a good idea in the wee hours of the morning. Thank you, Nitai, for getting behind the wheel for some time. As I pulled out of the pickup truck’s seat, I wondered if I would get any walking in!
The only happy chance for that would be after the series of meetings held in Ramada’s Conference Room. And those meetings ran well. Over 60 leaders attended the ISKCON’s AGM for Zone One of North America. You can’t imagine how it feels to be in a room full of talent. Seventeen center leaders had their 5 minutes each to give a report of achievements and challenges to their respective yatras/communities. We also delved into sticky subject matters that leaders must address.
As we were closing, a massive cake, the color of Alberta’s provincial wild rose, made its presence. “The purpose for such a cake?” I asked the local leader, Bala Krishna.
“To celebrate the event. We are all together,” he said.
