Valentine’s Day originated as a Christian feast day honoring one or two early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine.

Before execution, rather than cursing his unjust killers, Saint Valentine cured the jailer’s daughter of her blindness and execution in those days were pretty grim So basically Valentine’s Day is traditionally about making a sacrifice for a spiritual result, yes it has changed with time.

So this is a humble offering going out to all the devotees around the planet who engage in Devotional Service in Srila Prabhupada’s mission in bhajatam priti-purvakam, some doing big services and some smaller services, according to time and circumstances, but all getting Srila Prabhupada’s mercy.

Srila Prabhupada was very proud and thankful of this young boys and girls engaged in Bhakti Yoga, and sometimes there was serious austerities performed out of love.

Yes I remember our Praghosa Prabhu taking a freezing cold bucket bath on a dark Winter morning, with a howling wind blowing, good old Sankirtan days.

Most yogis and teachers translated the name “Bhakti Yoga” as ‘Divine Love’. Whereas our spiritual master translated it as “Devotional Service”.

In other words Love must be accompanied by actions.

“We are giving Krishna consciousness. That is loving, real loving. We are giving him eternal life, eternal bliss. Unless we love them, why we are taking so much trouble? The preacher must love the people. Otherwise why he is taking? He can do it for himself at home. Why he is taking so much trouble? Why in eighty years old I have come here if I do not love? So who can love better than a preacher? He loves even the animals. Therefore they are preaching, 'Don’t take meat.’ Do they love the animals, rascals? They are eating, and they love their country, that’s all. Nobody loves. It is simply sense gratification. If somebody loves, he is Krishna conscious, that’s all. All rascals. They are after their own sense gratification, and they will put a signboard, 'I love everyone.’ This is their business. And fools are accepting, 'Oh, this man is very philanthropic.’ He does not love any man. He loves only senses. That’s all. The servant of the senses, that’s all.”
