Rains came all night – a good sign. I spent the night at Chemainus, Vancouver Island, in a lovely and quaint 10 x 10 AirBnB, washroom of the same dimension right next door, and with a brief boardwalk two doors down is a gorgeous temple of Jagannath. The exterior and interior geniuses behind this heavenly arrangement are Gadadhar and Manoharini, crafts-persons, hosts, and above all, good devotees of Krishna.
After the night rainfall, a perfectly coordinated sun came out. I stuck to my schedule, taking a ferry to the mainland. And at its sailing duration I managed a Gita Chat Zoom call with South Africa with perfect reception. The verse from Chapter 2 entails Krishna urging Arjuna (and all listeners) to get out of the dense forest of delusion. As usual, I have a great time with the South African group.
Now, I’m in Burnaby and the home of Radha Madan Mohan. An enthusiastic newlywed, Gaura Bhava, served prasadam, my style, which includes asparagus. Too many ferry rides and automobile rides pressure the need for walking, so I ventured off to the nearby Chinese/Punjabi farmland where one of the largest Japanese encampments was located. After the bombing of Pearl Harbour, Canadians, like their compadres of the US, became skeptical of Japanese citizens in North America, so they were rounded up and put into camps.
A rich part of human history?
I took a group of young men to this location sharing some of the history while getting some extra steps in. Two of those chaps offered a deserved or undeserved leg massage as the day was coming to a calm closure.
