The World's Up and Down by Bhaktimarga Swami

13002122486?profile=RESIZE_400xI am still reflecting on the laughter and tears that come out of our viewers at Saturday’s performance of “The Jagannath Story”. It appears that some version of joy and melancholy shapes our world. I was saddened to hear upon my return from West Virginia, the place of the performance, that one of our young boys, 7, passed away in our Montreal community. That’s young and innocent. And while there in W V I witnessed a happy-go-lucky Annasuya, our sound cue girl, being so cheerful. That made me cheerful.

The Gita speaks of an emotional world - of its ups and downs in Chapter 2 and elsewhere.

Also, over the weekend, Joseph/Jivan Mukta, one of my actors told me of his favoured Canadians of which he identifies two. “First of all, there’s you !” he said. “Then there is Jim Carrey.” To that he added if I had ever seen his version of “Krishna Cop”.

I said, “No !” Then he showed it to me. Yes, it’s hilarious. This morning I shared the skit to those sitting at the Bhagvatam class. The screen was there, so the devotee working it, switched for the 5 or so minutes from the Sanskrit verse to Jim Carry’s little masterpiece. Naturally the students had a good chuckle out of that one. Jim is so witty, so funny.

The final two hours of my day was spent on Bloor St. when I was neither happy nor sad. I got dropped off on Bloor West for a good walk (a wet rainy one) back to the ashram. The constant rain kept me sober from the rain. My umbrella did its service.
