Hare Krishna,From Srila Prabhupada's books, lectures, it is understood that Bhakti is not dependent on any other activities - Bhakti is "Ahaituki" (without expectation of any return)and "Apratihata" (that which cannot be checked). Specifically, hearing and chanting are not dependent on Samskaras. Otherwise, how is it that persons born in so-called uncultured families became such great devotees without any samskaras being performed at the appropriate age? We can see this in Srila Prabhupada's greatly advanced disciples, and also their disciples around the world.Simply by incessantly chanting the Lord's names, Haridasa Thakura, born in a Mohammedan family was crowned Namacharya by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Himself. Of course, many didn't like, but Chaitanya Mahaprabhu knew best.Of course, Srila Prabhupada never encouraged us to stop a person who is attached to karma kanda activities, asking us to see that by stopping those activity a person may get unnecessarily disturbed, instead he asked us to engage them in devotional services. But if one is not attached to such activities, then there is no need to externally start activities outside of the 9 processes of devotional service.Idea is to not get attached to anything outside of the activities of Bhakti, whether one is advanced or not, just to focus on Bhakti. That is the understanding we get from Srila Prabhupada.Your servant,Mahabhagavat Das
