INSTED OF A JACK'O'LANTERN, A DEVOTEE FROM VANCOUVER CARVED OUT OF A PUMPKIN THIS EXTRAORDINARY PIECE DEPICTING KRISHNA LIFTING GOVARDHAN HILL.

I get so fascinated by Shyamasundar’s book, “Chasing Rhinos.” There were a few spots that I shared with Cory and Uday.

One of George Harrison’s acquaintances, David Wynne, had connections with the Queen. He offered her a Bhagavad-gita As It Is. According to David, she read the book for about half an hour and remarked, “How marvelous it would be to completely trust Krishna… to be able to give all responsibilities to Krishna. What a relief it would be!”

That was in the summer of ’73, or thereabouts, in the U.K of course.

There was more nectar to share with them as we sat in a cozy corner of our ashram basement. If I could paraphrase: our dear Prabhupada met with two scholars, Prof. Ronald Lewcock and Mrs. Sansoni, founder of Barefoot, the textile design company. This gets philosophical. Lewcock was saying of the two that they both work with the senses (and he being an architect). “We deal with the sense of vision.” So they asked Prabhupada if he considered sensual responses to vision and colour to be handicaps to spiritual advancement?

Prabhupada’s response was that none of us can deny the senses but we are to use them in the service of God.

Lewcock had a doubt, and it was on the topic of doubt. He was curious to know if doubt was regarded as a sin. Prabhupada wisely addressed the issue by saying that doubt is good, provided one uses it to make progress. Then he expressed the role of guru who can dissipate doubts.
