Hare Krsna
Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada
There was a king who was a great devotee of Mother Goddess.
Once, a big army attacked his kingdom. Out of fear, he prayed to the Mother Goddess.
Goddess Parashakti appeared before him and blessed him with a sword.
The king, instead of using that powerful sword, said 'O, Mother, I cannot fight'.
Parashakti said, 'I will bless you with physical energy, go and fight'. The king still refused.
This went on until the Goddess finally said 'You are destined to die'.
Alas, the king who got such a wonderful opportunity to turn his negatives to positives by the grace of the
Goddess, lost his chance due to his own lack of faith and lack of sankalpa shakti, arising out of the
ignorance of his own mind.
Thus due to his own restless and fickle mind he turned this opportunity of acquiring nectar into venom.
Reflection
How many of us are like this king in the story? How many of us have intentionally lost attaining something Higher and Nobler just because of the temptations and illusions of our own mind which finds false happiness with the lower? How many of us have turned Nectar into Poison due to the lack of our own sankalpa shakti?
Think.......
Since we have a physical body, we use it as a medium to experience good things. But actually it is the mind
which enjoys these objects, not the body.
In fact, some times, the physical experiences will never reach the soul. Such experiences are nothing but
acts of deceit. Therefore, Yogis try to 'realise' all experiences.
Just as a cow which eats tasteless fodder still gives pure milk, the Yogi can transform the materialistic
experiences into spiritual ones. Thus, a Yogi will achieve Atmananda or supreme bliss even with the help
of the so called physical experiences. He can convert even poison to nectar through his pure mind i.e he can make the best out of even a tragedy. So strong is his Sankalpa Shakti.
As a contrast, most of us inspite of eating nourishing food (positive things which enter us through our sense organs in the form of taste, touch, sight, hearing, smell) still produce dirt (negativities through the same sense organs due to lack of wisdom and clarity).
Then imagine what would happen if we had consumed only dirt (the negativities).
Therefore, we must consume only good food or that which is positive to us. We must speak only good words and our actions also have to be good. It is the tendency of human beings to find fault everywhere. The cause behind this tendency is that they themselves are full of faults. If the mind is flawless, the world
also appears flawless. Therefore we should consume only useful knowledge and acquire useful Yuikti.
Is there something called useless Mukti? -one may ask.
Hence even in spirituality we need to filter out what is not useful or good for our own evolution and follow only that which is useful and aids us in our goal towards the One.
It should be borne in mind that even venom can become amrita or nectar if only our sankalpa is strong. It is Meera's unshaking faith in Lord Krishna that turned the posion given to her into nectar. Strong faith
yields strong sankalpa. Hence only by her sankapla shakti and her feeling that the Lord would save her in
any situation, the poison turned into nectar miraculously. This is the power of our sankalpas.
A good doctor will constantly study the condition of his patient and will modify the treatment accordingly.
It does not mean that he is toying with his patient. The patient should display unflinching faith in the
doctor treating him even if he himself is another doctor.Without his own will power or strong sankalpa
to get better, even the world's best doctor cannot save him. Many people suffer and eventually die only
because of lack of faith and constant fear even if the disease is curable. Thus even if the disease is physical and curable, it is our mental disease of lack of sankalpa that destroys us.
If we have a strong sankalpa, even the Impossible becomes Possible and we can turn even Posion into
Nectar. But even the slightest of doubts in our own sankalpa, shatters our mental equilibirium and attracts negativities which can turn even Nectar into Posion.
