THE GOING NORTH by Bhaktimarga Swami

13672411082?profile=RESIZE_710xWe were entering into wild blueberry country.  Members of the Bhakti Academy from Toronto and I were invited to do a northern blitz in the province’s cities where mining and timber have been well established.  As is common on such trips, I start walking while the other load and pace the van.  There are 15 of us spread out among 3 vehicles ready for an adventure.  I was getting my sweet walking in and after a good 15,000 steps, my van (out of the 3) appeared.

What a great start!

Off we went; the other 2 trailing behind, to the north, as mentioned, to the wild blueberry.  How nice to be out of town!  To rocks, lake, and trees one feels a kind of moksha (freedom).

My companions, the 14 others, are just a delight to be with – so very well behaved.  Low maintenance, indeed.

The final destination for that day was Sudbury, Bell Park off Ramsey Lake.  Our purpose here was to form the basis of a ‘Krishna Folk Fest’ arranged by our innovative Thunder Bay man, Prem Kishor.  Friends from Brantford, Ontario (Alexander Graham Bell, telephone inventor, and poet, Pauline Johnson are from here) performed Odissi dance with fusion guitar sounds.  And our 15 performed The Age of Kali, sold books on bhakti, and presented the loveliest kirtan.  Oh, how the audience partook in it.  It was great.  The outdoor stage event was terminated by the rain which brought cool breezes.

I would have liked to see blueberries fall from the sky.
