The second day of the Chariot Fest is always a more relaxed one at Jeanne Mance Park. The parade was completed yesterday so there was no major wave of people coming all at one time. The park itself is a good location, newly renovated with additional volleyball courts, lots of green and it is at the base of Mount Royal near Park Avenue where our dear guru, Prabhupada, had roamed in 1968.
I have to say that I'm proud of our bus drama group. They did a mean presentation of the fish story. As I explained for the intro of our play, “We are all, each and every one of us, like a fish out of water, living in great discomfort. This struggle that we go through reaches a point of exhaustion and will eventually culminate in the search for truth. Let's go back into the water and enjoy our original state of happiness.”
In a class that I was listening to from Prabhupada, he emphasized that somewhere along the way we have lost the taste of true enjoyment and become accustomed to dark habits. We must re-create the taste. He explains that we once had this taste (ruchi) for the spirit but now it's lost.
I received the good news that when we were in Harrisburg performing, one couple randomly ended up at the Chariot Fest, had never been to our centres and not known anything about Krishna Consciousness. They watched our play, were so moved and decided to visit our temple the following Sunday. They were moved by what they heard, saw and ate. And it all started at the point of watching our drama.
I pray they continue to ride on the wave of bhakti and that Krishna will take care of them.
