THANK YOU CARIBBEAN by Bhaktimarga Swami

13423159677?profile=RESIZE_584xthanAryan gave me a packet of breadfruit chips to include in my luggage for the trip which touches three countries.  I love that breadfruit, prepared in almost any style.  I had my snack.  I’m set to go.

The longest portion of this flight on Caribbean Airlines was going to be from Trinidad to Canada.  Seat 5 A was roomy, especially for the legs.  It was my thoughts that became the major occupant in that space.  Past, present, and future become the three phases of that time.  When memories are sweet, then past roaming is a piece of cake.  When future prospects are bright, which they often are, then relish.  Don’t have your head too much in the clouds, though!  Get those feet on the ground.  That’s the present.

Just journalling, as I am doing now on the plane, is my living for the moment.  It’s a groovy spot to be in.  I look at the window and what’s beyond the smudged finger marks; I see a lot of space – the green below, angelic clouds, sun rays – all looking good (thank you, Krishna, for the view).  I look down at the literature sleeve before me.  I open up and breeze through the pages and give moments to the two articles.  A good read.  I look out again.  At a higher altitude, the green had vanished as high cloud population took over.  There’s the sun.

The gods must be happy.

I can capture a section of the very aircraft I’m in.  I retreat back to my space.  My feet are restless.  The sunset came and had gone to leave a darkness.  The pilot announced our descent and let us know that we should prepare for minus 6 degrees.  This is the way to learn detachment.  A good target!
