Sunday Special

Recap of Last Sunday Class: Putana was holding Krishna Kanayya of just six days old on her lap. Krishna has closed His eyes….reasons for closing the eyes……

Class Starts: Sukhdev Goswami explains as why Yashoda allowed Putana to give milk. It is because she thought Putana has come from abode and if she gives milk to Krishna, Krishna’s life and longevity will increase. Because she loves Krishna very much; she thinks everything as the / for the / in the welfare of Krishna.

Putana is talking very sweet that you have given birth to very beautiful child that by seeking this baby; touching the baby; milk is flowing out of my breasts. Therefore, Yashoda allows Putana to feed the milk.

Another reason why Krishna closed HIS eyes was that HE does not want to see those faces who tries to create disturbance to HIS devotees. Here Putana tried to kill all babies. Therefore, Krishna does not want to see her face. Krishna pretends sleeping. Putana takes Krishna near her breasts. Krishna holds her breast with two hands and pressing her stomach with his two tiny Legs of six days birth.

Text 8 of 10th canto: If someone thinks snake as rope, but it is still a snake. Here Putana thinks Krishna as rope, but Krishna is a snake, ready to kill Putana.

Text 9 of 10th canto: Putana resembles like sword shield. Though the sword shield appears to be very beautiful; but sword is very sharp. Therefore, Putana is like a sword in velvet shield / case, and Krishna is like a snake but Putana considers him as a rope.

Text 11: Here, Krishna sucks the breast of Putana like a leach (jalaga in telugu). Putana starts crying and shouting “leave Me”, leave me… screaming, perspiring, but Krishna was not leaving. Some Aacharayas says that Krishna’s Swabhaav (Nature) is like that, if HE Catches anyone once, HE will not Leave them”. Similarly, if someone comes to the feet of Krishna, HE will not leave them to their fate. HE will protect them. Putana screaming that even the entire inner and outer space trembled. But Krishna is not leaving her. Then Putana started hitting Krishna.

Text 12: Screaming of Putana appeared to neighboring villages like clouds / thunders falling on their heads. People are running here and there. Running, they fell down; few became unconsciousness. And Putana is shouting; screaming and crying.

Text 13: Meaning of the word “Nisachari” :- Nisa means NIGHT and Chari means who walks. One who walks in the night is called Nischari. Therefore, Putana is addressed as Nisachari. Maataji cuts a joke that in today’s world, everyone is Nishachari – doing night duties, especially after coming of HSBC in Vizag (call centre jobs) Now, nisachari Putana is in great trouble.

She is unable to bare the pain and started taking her original form and started running here and there and flying in air towards sky. Why she flew in sky? Because she thought if she flies in sky, Krishna will fall down and die. But Krishna is not leaving her breast and enjoying like cradle.

Those days, Kamsa’s Garden used to be there even in Gokul. Till then, Krishna kept her alive because, Krishna doesn’t want to effect / destroy any of the Gokul’s people; property, animals, insects, etc. There, in Kamsa’s garden, Putana fell and left her life.

Putana’s body is 12 miles length, 4 miles width; 2 miles height. People think that it was exaggerated as 12 miles. But why only 12 miles said? One can even say as 100 miles, 1000 miles, etc. But only correct statement said as 12 miles. Sukdev Goswami says that it takes 6 hours time to walk from head to toe of Putana.

Putana’s teeth is resembling plough, nose wholes as caves, breasts are like mountain, eyes are like deep well, hands and legs are like big bridge on a river, abdomen appeared like dried up lake. Seeing Putana, everyone frightened. Yashoda & Rohini mothers fainted when Putana flew in sky with Krishna. Sukhdev Goswami says why they fainted because; otherwise, they would die because their 6 days old Krishna being abducted.

Text 18: without fear, Krishna is playing on Putana’s breast – smiling & playing. Most of Vrijavasis fainted. Only very few Gopikas were conscious. They started climbing on Putana and taken Krishna and did not turn back but started running from Putana. Beautiful thing is that, under normal situation; seeing Putana’s structure, anyone try to protect themselves. But here, Gopikas are very pure that they did not think whether Putana is alive or dead or unconsciousness. They just want to save Krishna, therefore, they did not bothered about their lives, but rushed to save Krishna.

Text 19: Where cows are there, there no diseases will be there. Vrijavasis takes the cow’s tail and does some traditional act of moving the cow’s tail so that any inauspicious of evil effects, if any, will be vanished. Gopikas bath Krishna with cow urine. Gopikas put tilak at 12 places on Krishna with cow dung (Kesava, Maadhava, Govinda, Madhusudhana…. At heart, on hands, forehead, etc). Before doing prayers, we have to do Aachaman. We do this for cleaning hands, for cleaning mouth (for purification of hands and mouth) and only after purifying hands and mouth, we do any prayers. But after doing all the above; Gopikas remembers that they didn’t do Aachaman.

Here Yashoda & Rohini are laying unconsciousness. They are not getting up even after pouring water. Then these Gopikas put Krishna & Balaram on their body and immediately, both Yashoda & Rohini comes to consciousness; does Aachaman and does prayers and purification ceremony. Whatever Mantra starts with Om & ends with Namaha, we should purify our hands & mouth by doing Aachamana before doing prayers. Text 20: child was washed with cow urine. Cow’s dust was also powered on Krishna.

Text 21: Gopikas done Aachamn and started doing prayers for protecting each and every part/organs of body of Krishna. This is called KRISHNA KAVACHA. Krishna Kavacha was given by Brahma to Shiva to Durvasa Muni to Yashoda. Therefore, these Yashoda & Gopiakas started uttering this Krishna Kavacha. Though prayed for Krishna from head to toe; they kept on doing prayers. But one senior Gopika says “Feed Krishna,; it is long time he drank milk”. When Krishna was fed milk by Yashoda and Krishna drank the milk and everyone got relaxed that Krisha is fine. Because, if a child drinks milk; he is healthy.

Now, Nanda Maharaj came from Mathura and sees Putana Body from far and he thinks that he reached wrong address because there are no mountains in Gokul. But when he started going near to the Putana’s body; they realized that it is not a mountain but Putana. Then everyone tells the story to Nanda Maharaj.

Nanda Maharaj says that Vasudev is very intelligent. How he could tell the Bhavishya-vani that Vasudev told Nanda Maharaj to back to Gokul soon as he warned Nanda Maharaj that something wrong is going to happen. Dundhubhi is the second name of Vausdev. Here, Nanda Maharaj addresses Vasudev as Dundhubi because at the time of birth of Vasudev; all Devatas banged Dundhi (Drums) because they (Devatas) declared Vasudev as father of Krishna.

Text 33: how many days the dead body can be kept? Nanda Maharaj says; let us do funeral ceremonies. But how? How many woods we can put? Then, Nanda Maharaj says cut Putana into pieces of 12 miles and do the funeral ceremonies. They strated cutting Putana and throwing aside with sticks. After that, they started doing funeral ceremonies. One can just imagine how much Vrijavasis struggled for Putana. See, the fortune of Putana; she was set funeral ceremonies by Vrijavasis. See the beauty of Krishan, that how much mercy he has showered on Putana. Though, Putana was born in Mathura; but left her body in Krishna’s hand and funeral ceremonies being done by Vrijavasis.

Why burning the body is important because; when we burn; we come to know that body is nothing but ashes. After burning the body; something; strange happened. After burning Putana body, beautiful smell, and aroma started coming that 100s of kms lot of smoke with aroma was filled. Nearby villagers thought that in Paatala-Loak; Bali Chakravarti is doing Homams. People started running here and there and coming to Gokul to know the reason and source of this fragrance. One may question why this good fragrance is coming from Putana. It is because of the touch of Krishna….

For example, if we see the person eating non-veg sitting besides us; even their sweat smells bad. And just think of Putana who, whole life drunk the blood of babies. But just because of touch of Krishna; good fragrance has come.

Text 37, 38: Putana came to kill Krishna, but Krishna was so kind. (who came to kill Krishna got delivered this much; then what to speak of those who come to Krishna with love & Devotion for Krishna?) what type of Moksh the devotees will get? Krishna always search the reason as how to show mercy on HIS devotees / people who comes to HIM. Maataji has given a wonderful example that examiners does scrutiny as how and where to cut the marks. But Krishna scrutinizes where and how to give Marks. Krishna parked that Putana came to kill HIM. But HE remembered her as mother & delivered. To tell the Sakthi in Bhakthi; how merciful Krishna is, Putana episode highlights. By Janma, Karma, Sangha, everything is worst of Putana, but she got delivered. Then what one can have who has love & devotion for Krishna? The food we eat determines our consciousness.

People think whether God will consider me or not; I am a great sinner. Sukhdev Goswami says; first come to God and then HE will deliver.

Text 43, 44: Each part of Krishna is merciful; filled with love & mercy, just like any part of cake tastes sweet. Not necessary, one feed Prasad only through mouth; he can also eat through eyes. If one cuts any beings; blood comes out, flesh comes out. But if Krishna’s any part is cut, mercy & love will come out.

Brahma Vaivartha Purana describes Putana’s previous birth. RatnaMala is daughter of Bali Chakravarthi. Seeing Vaamana avatar; Ratnamala thinks how beautiful this Vaamana is, if I had a son; I would feed milk to him. When Vaaman puts Balichakravarthi down the earth; then Ratnamala thinks that he should be poisoned. Therefore, her both wishes of feeding milk & poisoning gets fulfilled in this birth of Putana. …..

Husband buys many sarees to wife; but if not bought one saree; wife says; you have not done anything in my life. Similarly; if wife does not prepare food properly for one day because she is sick, husband says that you have not done anything in my life. But God is the only one whatever one does little; he will never forget and reciprocates. That is the reason; though Putana fed Krishna with poisonous milk; she was delivered to Goloka Vrindavan & given her the status of mother.

Reciprocation of Sudhama’s love by Krishna:- Sudhama gifted Krishna his best capacity. But when Krishna wanted to gift best capacity, Rukhmini stopped her to give HIMSELF (Krishna) to Sudhama. Then with what face, Krishna will say to Sudhama that HE has given him the best that HE can? Alike, if we try to do our best capacity to God; HE will give HIMSELF to us.

Maataj has shared one very strange, but very TRUE STORY. Once, there was a temple in South India. One devotee used to go and come to temple. Once, gone to bazaar where Lotus was sold. But he had no money. The devotee feels in mind – how nice; if I can buy and offer this Lotus to God and asks the vendor the price of Lotus. The vendor says some amount. Nearby the vendor, one prostitute passes and asks her boyfriend to gift her lotus. Therefore, the boyfriend gets down from chariot and asks him the cost. Vendor says that already the flower was bargained by devotee. Prostitute’s boy friend says that he will give double, devotee says that he will give triple, the bargain goes to that extent that the devotee says to the vendor that he will write his only and entire property of house in the name of the vendor, but he wants that lotus for offering to the Lord. Finally, prostitute’s boyfriend leaves the place and the devotee buys the lotus and gives away his house to the vendor. When the devotee goes to the temple to offer the lotus to the Lord, the Deity from the temple walks to the devotee and bends HIS head and asks the devotee, I am totally bowing down before your devotion to me, please offer the lotus to me. The lord appears in the dream of the vendor, advises him to return the house to HIS devotee and in return, God gives lots of wealth to the vendor. That is what real Bhakthi means….

But 99% of us try to serve God as per our LEAST CAPACTIY; but NOT as per our BEST CAPACITY – physically, mentally or financially. Without Breath & Money, one cannot live. But if you serve as per your best capacity; Krishna will become servant of HIS Devotees.

Prabhupada says that if you can carry 02 suitcases; but if you take only 01 suitcase; God is not fool to be fooled. If you try to hold 3 suitcases, the God becomes slave of you. People think God is not reciprocal. If we are Miser to God; therefore; God also reciprocates accordingly.

Maataji ended the class by quoting that Bhakti Rasamritha Sindhu describes that whoever sees the face of Vaishanvas; who serves God; their entire sins vanishes. Because God resides & Rest in Vaishanvas hearts because in materialistic people’s heart, HE is always disturbed as they keep on asking “I WANT THIS, I WANT THAT”, but Vaishnavas, most of the times or at least sometimes, keep doing chanting, prayers, etc. and atleast that time, God can take rest in Vaishanva’s heart. Srimad Bhagatam ki Jai………
