A VERY HAPPY RATHASAPTAMI (FEB 12, 2019). MAY THE SPLENDOUR, RADIANCE AND BRILLIANT RAYS OF LIGHT OF OUR MOST BELOVED LORD SURYANARAYANA AND LAKSHMI AMMA BE SHOWERED ON EACH OF HIS CREATION AND MAY THEY BE SERVED ETERNALLY BY ALL THE SRIVAISHNAVAS, IN THE MANNER OUR DIVINE CONSORT LOVE AND DESIRE, HERE AND HEREAFTER.
At the outset, please allow me , to very humbly, convey that writing about the highest reverential works of Azhwars (mystic saints of south India) , at my lowest level is not a very easy task for their writings are so technical and more exact and accurate than the natural sciences like Math, Physics, etc and also deeply profound but in the capacity of an invisible speckle of dust at the lotus feet as a servant of servant of servant of servant of OUR MOST BELOVED Sriman Narayana and our loving Lakshmi amma have tried my best to do so. My infinite failings, may please be forgiven by the divine consort.
Whilst , reading their works in depth ( countless thanks and prostration to the devout Srivaishnavas who have translated their works in English in such a lucid manner), the very first thought that comes to my mind, is that, our most holiest of holy Srivaishnava saints across our very revered Bharatam desam have expressed the same message about our beloved divine consort. Their language, their writings in the age they were born in , their gender, their caste etc superseded their immense monumental love for our creator Lord Sri Krishna, their writings more or less seem very similar, just that their writing style is slightly different, otherwise , one can fully comprehend that whether it was our most loving Gyaneshwar Mauli, Tukaram Maharaj, Sri Ramdas swami, Sant Mira bai, Sant Kabirdas and the countless other mahatmas, gurus and saints , since they have spoken, experienced and touched the same lord our dearest Lord Sri Krishna and Lakshmi amma, their writings too, have the highest similarity, their devotional verses are so very same and hence it finally and very surely validates that despite the era they were born in our dearest Sriman Narayana is the sole creator and the only Parmatma the entire cosmos has known of and also he is the only goal each one of us have to attain , and finally serve unto his lotus feet which is the true state of parmanada sat chit ananda.
Also, have in a very condensed form, highlighted only the core points that our most beloved azhwars have submitted, for their works if analyzed intensely, will cover countless thesis and yet fall short by several score. My only keen desire, while moving the divine pen, which our dearest lord Sri Govinda and Lakshmi amma are moving, is in this fast paced world, in the simplest of simple manner , to try our very level best, to learn and imbibe about our culture, our dharma and about our most beloved saints who have tried their level best to redeem us, have so lovingly ensured that come what may, every jivatma should attain our loving parmaatma Sri Govinda was their sole purpose of their existence and to very lovingly in full bhakti and prapatti serve our one and only divine consort and permanently find a place at their lotus heart and most beautiful divine pink lotus feet.
Also please note, that just like our divine most Srimadh Bhagavad Gita uttered by the most holiest of holy mukhakamlam of our dearest Lord Sri Govinda, becomes repetitive, because our lord constantly wants to re-emphasize and repeat his message so that his bhaktha does not lose track of his message for it gets permanently etched in our memory when a message is repeatedly conveyed, so also , all our most loving azhwars works are very similar and hence would try my best to draw attention only to their verses which are exclusive to themselves.
The first three azhwars are popularly known as Mudal azhwars ( first azhwars). Please refer to my earlier work about their origin etc , this work, in order to avoid duplication, is solely directed at their divine writings.
THE CORE ESSENCE CONVEYED BY OUR DEAREST OF DEAR POIGAI AZHWAR
- According to Poigai azhwar, a staunch devotee has to constantly think of Lord Sriman Narayana and our dearest SriLakshmi amma and should never allow one's mind to stray in the worldly pursuits and if they do wander away, the swaying mind can be brought under control by one and only ,our dearest PARMATMAN SRIMAN NARAYANA and none else. This surely, is his message that prapatti (unconditional surrender unto the lotus feet of our creator is the only way to attain him). When all our individual efforts fail, without an iota of doubt, our divine will come to our rescue, for only he and none else can carry us towards him, but efforts of a srivaishnava jivatma, is a must because when an intense desire is kindled in the jivatma to attain the parmatma and also with both hands joined and raised above with a deep love to our creator that we are but his creations, he is the all powerful is conveyed to him, rest nothing to worry at all HE WILL TAKE CARE......ONLY ONE TIME SURRENDER....OUR LORD DOES NOT CONSTANTLY NEED TO BE REMINDED FOR HIS MEMORY SPANS THE ENTIRE LIFE CYCLE OF ALL HIS CREATIONS OF THE PAST, THE PRESENT AND ALSO THE FUTURE AS CONVEYED BY HIMSELF IN SRIMADH BHAGAVADA GITA, OUR DIVINE CELESTIAL SONG ,WHERE HE CONVEYES TO ARJUNA HE KNOWS THE BIRTH AND ACTIVITIES OF ALL HIS CREATIONS AND TO PROVE HIS POINT IN THE ELEVENTH CHAPTER VISHWAROOPAM, HE SHOWS HIS UNIVERSAL COSMIC FORM WHERE DURYODHANA AND OTHES HAVE ALREADY BEEN DESTROYED.
- Poigai azhwar has established with full victory and triumph the ultimate SUPREMACY OF SRIMAN NARAYANA AS THE ONLY PARMATAAMA AND THE CREATOR OF ALL THE WORLDS , REST ALL ARE ONLY JIVATMAS HIS DIVINE CREATION. Poigai azhwar has spoken to our king of the cosmos, has touched and experienced his most divine pink beautiful lotus feet and with all confidence asserts that OUR SRIMAN NARAYANA IS THE ONLY PARTMAAN WHO CAN HELP US ACHIEVE PERMANENT SALVATION, NONE ELSE. Every of his verse is authenticated by our dearest of dear Lord Sri Krishna in our divine Srimadh Bhagavad Gita, wherein he conveys that those who pray the demi gods will reach them, but in the very last birth, those who unconditionally with total love and faith surrender unto him , will attain him , no doubt on this. So our dearest of dear azhwar has self experienced the divine holy verses uttered by our lord and hence is fully sure that he will bow low only at the lotus feet of SriGovinda and none else and also exhorts each of us to follow him and surrender only and only at our most divine lotus feet of SriGovinda.
- Those who do not love our dearest of dear Lord Sri Govinda will always be confused and lost, although he is an impartial to his friends and foes alike, yet surely, the ones who love him the most he runs to their rescue, burns their karmic load to ashes and can go to any extent, even very effortlessly change any rules set by himself to ensure his loving devotees are very safe and reach him earliest for more than the staunchest of staunch devotee our dearest creator Lord Sriman Narayana is pining, waiting very eagerly for his loved ones to reach him, he cannot bear a second separation from his loved devotee, such is the highest of high love our creator has for his creations, our highest love for him is just like one small droplet of water of a gigantic ocean, his is an over flowing compassion and his redemption speed is faster than a lightening, in all his glories he will ascend on our dearest garuda and carry his loving devotees at a blinking of an eyelid and his pure devotees will forever revel in his loving company , of course, without saying , our dearest of dear, most beloved mother Daya devi, maha lakshmi amma will also be with us carrying us in her lap...JAI HO PRABHU....SRIHARI BOL...WHAT A DIVINE SPLENDOUR IT WOULD BE TO BE FOREVER PROTECTED AND NEVER BE EXPOSED TO ANY OF THE SORROWS UNDER OUR MOST LOVING CARE OF OUR LORD AND CREATOR SRIMAN NARAYANA AND LAKSHMI AMMA..THE VERY THOUGHT OF OUR UNION WITH OUR PARMATMA CAN DESTROY EVERY NEGATIVITY AND TRANSPORT US HEREITSELF ON OUR DEAREST MOTHER EARTH DIRECTLY TO SRI PARMAPADAM HIS ETERNAL ABODE.
- Our most beloved Poigai azhwar, constantly reminds himself and each of us of the countless acts of love our most beloved lord Sri Govinda has undertaken for his beloved devotees, the constant pain that he endured to salvage the dreadful plight of his devotees, be it our loving Prahalada Maharaja, our pious Gajendran a mighty elephant caught mecilessly for thousand of years by a cruel crocodile, his immense love which he showered on Sudama his childhood friend and partook of his oldest of old withered puffed rice , the beautiful act of love he showered on Shabari amma by eating her dried fruit, how many more such acts can one write, speak or think of , countless and countless in number. Our Poigai azhwar keeps on reminiscing the wonderful most pure acts of love of our dearest of dear Lord Sri Krishna and conveys to us with full certainty that simply visualizing the divine love of our lord can sail us through the ruthless wheels of birth and death.
- Our dearest Poigai Azhwar very lovingly lets us know , not to worry about the fathomless heights of our beloved lord Sri Krishna and fear , on the contrary our lord damadhara is eternally lovingly bound with a beautiful silken twine with his devotees and even if his devotees want to break lose he will not allow that to happen and will bind them still closer for once he has captured a heart he will ensure that his loved ones reach him and that too very promptly, for our lord does not have the patience to wait long to unite with his devotees, this is for sure , so none of us need to be frightened of our non existent status for our greatest of great Lord Sriman Narayana does not bother at all for status, financial soundness, high exalted position etc for these pertain only to the transient material world and in front of our lord none can possess nor display even one billionth of an atom sized talent, or riches, or pride as compared to his most superior glorious status as the unparalleled king of the cosmos, the very fact we boast in front of him will shame us to no end , it is like the small light of a lamp showing off its position to our Lord Suryanaraya whose brightest light can illumine the entire worlds. Our lords superlative greatness, gentleness, compassion can never be measured and above all can never be compared with ours for HE IS SARVASWAM ( ALL IN ALL, THE ONE AND ONLY ONE ).
- Our dearest of dear azhwar, when he so very lovingly remembers our Lord Sri Krishna and through his mental sight conjures of various images of our most loving Yashoda amma's love for our dearest baby Sri Krishna he pleads with our lord to forgive him , for he feels and also conveys the height of Yashoda ammas love and as compared to her , to his mind, his love is nothing to boast of. such is the divine love our dearest azhwars have for our divine consort , who in word and spirit communicate the nature of their relation with our dear Lord Sriman Narayana as a subservient one and always think of their colossal love for our divine as a mere nothing. Such evolved loved ones of our lord, who have proved without a doubt of their most dignified and glorious status, yet refrain from ego , we have so much to imbibe from their simplicity, their unparalleled love they have felt for our creator, they have not only seen and experienced the brilliance of our lord , like the dazzling sparkle of billions and billions of suns put together , they have also touched and felt our divine Sri Govinda , yet how humble they can be. MY DEAREST BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CAN WE BE LIKE THEM? , AT LEAST ONE BILLIONTH OF THEIR QUALITIES CAN WE IMBIBE, IMPLEMENT AND IMMERSE OURSELVES IN? , WE CAN AND WE WILL AND JUST NOW, FOR TIME IS VERY SHORT, WE HAVE TO VERY QUICKLY FIND A PLACE IN THE LOTUS HEART AND LOTUS MOST ENCHANTING DIVINE FEET OF OUR DEAREST OF DEAR LORD SRIMAN NARAYANA , HE IS EAGERLY WAITING FOR US.. WE NEED TO RUSH..NO TIME TO STAND AND STARE.
- Our Poigai azhwars love for our lord at the holiest of holy Sri Tirumala hills in standing position as Lord Balaji/ Lord Sri Venkateswara/ Lord Govinda and in reclining position as Sri Ranganathar in the most revered Srivaishnavite pilgrimage Srirangam is very transcendental. He asserts with the highest love and bhakti that these two places our lord in archa (as a statue/divine vigraha form worshipped in our temples ) is none other than our Sriman Narayana in Sri Parmapadam. So, let us resolve just now, whenever possible to visit both these pilgrim centres to seek our lord for he is waiting for us, who knows which of us would reach SriParmapadam and when, but whilst he has gifted us this human form we surely can go to the holiest of holy seven hills of Sri Tirumala and SriRangam, earnestly pray to his loving form , soak fully in his divine beauty and implore him with the highest devotion to carry us from this samsara , to forever serve the divine consort, our dearest parents, here and hereafter, am very sure they will listen to us , in fact they are waiting eagerly for us..
- Our dearest of dear azhwar wants us to constantly chant his divine names, for in kaliyuga namasankirtanai (chanting and singling glories of his divine countless holy names ), is the easiest method to reach him. WE CAN VERY LOVINGLY CHANT HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE ANYTIME ,ANY NUMBER OF TIMES, ANYWHERE, IN THE MIDST OF OUR DAILY CHORES, SO SIMPLE, NO NEED OF ANY CUMBERSOME AND ELABORATE RITUALS TO ATTAIN HIM, ONLY VERY LOVING RECITATION OF HIS INFINITE HOLIEST OF HOLY NAMES, JUST LIKE A RAFT HIS TIRUNAAMAM (HOLY DIVINE NAMES) WILL CARRY US TO HIM. SIMPLEST METHOD TO REACH OUR CREATOR...CONTINUOUS CHANTING OF HIS DIVINE NAMES , LIKE OUR BREATHING PROCESS WHICH IS NATURAL AND ONGOING PROCESS, WE NEED TO KEEP ON CHANTING, HE WILL COME SURELY AND AT A JET SET SPEED TO REDEEM US.
- When our beloved Poigai azhwar feels very lonely and also feels that he has missed meeting our dearest of dear creator, despite the fact he has seen and touched him , such is the glory of our truest of true srivaishnava devotee, that his mind is never satiated in his transcendental journey, on hearing this , our dearest of dear lord Sriman Narayana and our most beloved Lakshmi amma come running to him to keep him company. IS THERE A SINGLE ALPHABET REQUIRED AFTER THIS ? OUR KING AND QUEEN OF THE ENTIRE WORLD, OUR MOST BELOVED CREATOR RUSHING TO MEET THEIR MOST LOVING DEVOTEE WHO ONLY LIVES EVERY SECOND FOR SRI GOVINDA, DOES NOT BOTHER AT ALL FOR ANY WORLDLY PURSUITS, DOES NOT HANKER FOR EVEN GOOD FOOD OR SLEEP BUT ONLY ALL THE TIME , THINKS , LOVES ,FEELS AND RESPECTS OUR CREATOR AND THE VERY BEST PART IS THEY COMING TO MEET HIM AND ENJOY HIS DIVINE LOVE. SUCH IS THE ACT OF OUR BELOVED SRIMAN NARAYANA AND LAKSHMI AMMA THAT THEY WILL AS VERY DOTING PARENTS, ALWAYS BE THERE FOR THEIR LOVED ONES, THEY ARE THE ONLY DIVINE WELL WISHERS FOR EACH ONE OF US , EVERY OTHER RELATION IN THIS MORTAL WORLD IS FLEETING , TRANSIENT AND EVER CHANGING. OUR POIGAI AZHWARS IMMENSE LOVE AND HIGHEST FAITH IN OUR CREATOR IS SUPREME MOST , COUNTLESS PRANAMS AND PROSTRATION TO OUR DEAREST OF DEAR RESPECTED POIGAI AZHWAR , WHEN A SINGLE CALL FROM HIM ,OUR DIVINE PARENTS COME RUSHING TO CARRY HIM LOVINGLY IN THEIR LOTUS ARMS.
- ACCORDING TO OUR DEAREST POIGAI AZHWAR OUR DEAREST LORD SRI GOVINDA IS THE GOAL AND ALSO THE MEANS TO ACHIEVE OUR GOALS OF PERMANENT UNION WITH OUR DIVINE PARENTS. LET US PRAY TO OUR BELOVED LORD TO STEADY OUR UNCONTROLLED MIND, ONLY HE CAN AND NONE ELSE FOR HE IS THE SOLE AUTHORITY IN ALL THE THREE WORLDS TO GRANT SALVATION AND ENABLE US TO LOVINGLY SERVE HIM AND TRANSPORT US INTO HIS KINGDOM SRIPARMADPADAM, THE HOLIEST OF HOLY ABODE OF OUR DEAREST SRIMAN NARAYANA AND LAKSHMI AMMA WHICH IS NOT SUBJECT TO ANY MATERIAL CONTAMINATION AND IS A PERMANENT STOREHOUSE OF HAPPINESS, PEACE AND DIVINE BLISS.
11. WHEN WE WHOLEHEARTED SURRENDER UNTO OUR MOST LOVING PIOUS POIGAI AZHWAR OUR LORD SRI KRISHNA WILL AUTOMATICALLY COME RUSHING TO US BECAUSE THE VERY DIVINE COMPANY AND ASSOCIATION OF A TRUE SRIVAISHNAVA ACHARYAN MERITS OUR LORDS GRACE FOR OUR LORD IS MOST HAPPY WHEN OUR LOVING ACHARYANS, SAINTS AND GURUS WHO ARE REFLECTIONS OF HIS VERY OWN SELF ARE REVERED, THEIR PRINCIPLES PRACTICED AND THEIR COUNTLESS GLORIES SUNG, BY DOING JUST THAT , WE CAN REACH OUR LORD SRIMAN NARAYANA AND OUR BELOVED LAKSHMI AMMA EFFORTLESSLY.
