Hare Krsna
Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada
Prabhupada desired to taste South Indian-style cooking. Abhirama's wife had made iddli previously, but they had been hard, like stone. So Prabhupada asked that Palika come for a few days. After lunch, however, Srila Prabhupada said, "There is no need to call her. I have no taste, so what is the use?"
In the afternoon, Prabhupada called me and Srila Prabhupada said, "I was very happy when you dropped Palika. Now you have introduced woman cooking again. Why? Fire must melt butter. Artificially, you can check; but eventually it will act. Tactfully arrange for her not to cook." I explained that, because I had wanted Abhirama's help with the secretarial work, I was encouraging his wife; but Srila Prabhupada said, "Sometimes husband and wife can work separately."
For the past few days, Prabhupada had been very quiet, almost transcendentally morose. He would hear the correspondence without making any comment. I thought I should speak if the opportunity presented itself.
