It requires no introduction to introduce the great Personality Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. However as conditioned souls we are greatly inhibited in our attempts to write even a few words about Him. Yet we have no other way other than to glorify the great Ocean of transcendental Love and Knowledge that is Chaitanya Mahaprabhu for our own advancement. Even in today's world of technological advancement everyone will agree that somewhere in between our soul hankers for its real place in the existence of eternity with complete satisfaction of knowledge and love somewhere in the transcendental heart.
There are already many wonderful articles written on the great Personality, Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu by many great devotees and acaryas like Srila A.C. Bhaktivadanta Swami Prabhupada, Srila Sridhar Swami and many other great self realized masters. It is well known that Shri Chaitanya's causeless mercy is for everyone regardless of their previous background. Rich and poor, knowledgeable and illiterate, sinful or sinless, Vedanties or even atheistic, or of any other religious background - all have received great mercy. Examples are Jagai and Madhai, Chand Kazi, Rupa and Sanatana Goswamies and there followers, many devotees of west and many other unknown personalities. Thus even us insignificant souls can also beg a tiny dot of that unlimited ocean of mercy so that our lives may be successful. In that spirit only we are attempting to put forward some thoughts. Thus we beg the mercy of all the well meaning personalities and devotees of the Lord.
One can see that in the centuries that followed after the appearance of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the entire world saw a great surge in researching the nature - i.e., the Sun, moon, the solar system, biomechanics, structure of space, laws that govern the working of the world order, life etc. Even during his own lifetime (1486 AD - 1534 AD), the Western world discovered the route to America, India and many other parts of world. A kind of new world order began to emerge from that time. Many of the great scientists like Newton, Galileo, Copernicus, Einstein, Pasteur, Heisenberg, Bohr appeared and by their significant contributions gained the respect that was reserved for the sages of the past.
Yet all these great advances with its great reservoir of information and knowledge sometimes make a thinking person ponder as to here actually we are led to from here. What is the big picture in a nutshell? What is the real objective of life? For what purpose we exist, how to know that purpose of life and how to fulfill that purpose? To know all these very difficult but prime requirements of life, sometimes makes us think very seriously, that how we could get the solution. Thus it is felt by many well meaning personalities of science that the ancient system of Vedic knowledge has the key to many or all of such tricky subjects. Correlating the present scientific knowledge and approach with that of the ancient system of knowledge that is the Vedas can very well provide the needed solution. Hence it is the prime duty of all learned persons to give some effort in directing the present science towards fulfilling the ultimate goal of life. It cannot be done alone by present areas that are studied in science. We have to expand our focus of vision beyond all limits. Thus we must cooperate and move together step by step with the scholars of vedas also.
Coming back to the life of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, he was a prodigious child. He became learned very quickly in all the various systems of knowledge present at that time. In this way he was very well learned. It is said that there was no one equal to him in knowledge at that time all over India where he extensively traveled. He had pleasant exchanges with all sections of people. Thus he discussed with the very best among the Vedantists, Buddhists, Muslims, atheists, logicians and every one else. He was loved by one and all. If one would compare him to anybody in the post renaissance period it will be difficult to find one. In a humble way we could say he very easily deserves the attention of all the sincere seekers of knowledge. The admirers of Emanuel Kant, Spinoza, Descartes, Einstein, Pasteur, Bohr, Hawking, Penrose will all certainly feel enhanced when they will peruse through the thoughts and teachings of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
In the ancient Vedic system of nyaya or logic, one can find many gems of analysis to establish complete knowledge and facts about different things that exist. In modern world that word nyaya | ||
