Sankirtan Padayatra-2010
This year’s Padayatra was organized in Boudh district of Odisha for 21days
from 22.10.2010 to 11.11.2010 carrying Sri Sri Gour Nitai and Srila
Prabhupad’s Sri Bigrahas in a well decorated Rath pulled by bullocks which
was inaugurated by Odisha Legislative Assembly speaker Sri Pradip Kumar Amat
at Pitambarpur. In his inaugural address the speaker praised ISKCON for its
stupendous work to preach Krishna Consciousness, the root of Sanatan Dharma
in the world.
The Padayatra covered 21 places. In all the places the Sankirtan
Padayatris were cordially greeted by the locals and huge ovations were given
in the form of blowing couch shells and making ‘decorative gates’ to receive
them.
In the evening, where the Padayatris halts, Baishnab Bhajans,
Prabachan and spiritual drama were presented in which large numbers of local
peoples were attending and enjoying it with pleasure.
Preaching of Sri Krishna Consciousness to school and college
students were imparted and it was remarkably accepted by them.
In the concluding ceremony the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Boudh
Notified Area Council Mrs. Sanjukta Naik & Mr. Basant Kumar Swain
respectively attended it. They appreciated the ISKCON’s endeavour to preach
Krishna Consciousness which will encourage people towards Bhakti Yoga.
Besides 50 Indian devotees, about 30 foreign devotees from Americca,
Russia, England, France had participated under the guidance of Sripad Murali
Krishna Prabhu in this 21days long programme.
Sankirtan Padayatra had started from 1992 by Srila Gour Govind Swami
Maharaj for the pleasure of Srila Prabhupad to commemorate his disappearance
day, which had covered many cities, towns and remote villages of Odisha.
