Sankirtan forces us to be very humble. Sankirtan gives us the opportunity to free ourselves from the false ego that has been building within us. When you do not go out on sankirtan, a lot of fat gets built on the body in the form of false ego, and that false ego further enhances the opportunity to develop material desires. Therefore sankirtan means dumping out our false ego. It is so unfortunate that sometimes devotees say, “” I am fried from sankirtan. I can not go out. I can not do this. I can not do that.”” This is so unfortunate because here is an able-bodied man, here is a man whose body is being kept intact by Krishna so that Krishna’s name can be propagated, and we are not using our able bodies for that and want to use it for something else.
