Sacrifice is Best Form of Prayer

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Today on the occasion of Guru Maharaja's Tirobhava (disappearance) divas, it is most auspicious for all of us to remember and glorify our beloved spiritual master who sacrificed his life for the welfare of whole society and perfectly fulfilled the desire of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
                  bharata-bhumite haila manushya janma yaara
                     janma saarthaka kari kara para-upakaara
"One who has taken his birth as a human being in the land of India [Bharata-varsha] should make his life successful and work for the benefit of all other people."
His Divine Grace Srila Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj has set an example of perfect spiritual master through his sacrifice and practically shown us how to attract the mercy of Lord and practiced how to be a perfect representative of Srila Vyas deva. According to Sri Narad Muni, a bonafied spiritual master who sacrificed and followed the path of Bhagavat Dharma throughout his life, such a great soul is to be considered the external manifestation of Krishna Himself. This is confirmed by Krishna in Srimad Bhagavatam 11.17.27 that, "One should know the acharya to be My self and never disrespect him in any way. One should not envy him, thinking him an ordinary man, for he is the representative of all the demigods".
Human life is especially meant for sacrifice. Anyone who takes birth in the land of India has the special privilege of being able to take advantage of the instruction and guidance of the Vedic civilization. Everyone who is born in the land of India has a natural spiritual inclination and is taught the basic principles of spiritual life; they merely need to be a little more education in the Vedic principles. If we are educated in the Vedic principles, we will be able to perform the most beneficial welfare activity for the entire world, which is to create purifying force in the society by educating more and more people to become Krishna conscious. Srila Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj instructeded us that the children should definitely be given the purifying force of Krishna. They may forget and may not follow in the beginning. As the years go, they will be busy with education and so on. But they will never forget the basic culture which we have given them. The whole of lifetime they will be having this purifying force with them. So the purifying force has to be given to the younger generation so that it continues and that is known as parampara. Maharaja's one of the favourite verse from Srimad Bhagavatam verse 1.2.10 states.
kaamasya nendriya-pritir / laabho jiveta yaavataa
jivasya tattva-jijnaasa / naartho yas ceha karmabhih
"Life's desires should never be directed toward sense gratification. One should desire only a healthy life, or self-preservation, since a human being is meant for inquiry about the Absolute Truth. Nothing else should be the goal of one's works."
Srila Prabhupada warned us through his purport that no one is serious about the problems of life. Even those who are on the path of salvation desire to become one with the Absolute Truth and desire to commit spiritual suicide for sense gratification. But the Bhagavatam says that one should not live for sense gratification. One should satisfy the senses only insomuch as required for self-preservation, and not for sense gratification
On this holy day commemorating  Gurudev’s disappearance from this mortal world, and his presence in our lives eternally, I humbly bow to his lotus feet and pray he may forgive our offences, give us the strength to overcome them, bless all of us with Krishna consciousness, and empower us to share whatever we have learned and realized. On this occasion it is the best chance for all of us to redeem ourselves from all the difficulties and re-energize spiritually to serve the lotus feet of our spiritual master eternally.
