Royal Road to Hell

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Mathajis,
Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.
In Srimad Bhagavad Gita verse Lord Krishna says in verse 16.4
dambho darpo 'bhimaanash ca / krodhah paarushyam eva ca
ajnaanam caabhijaatasya / paartha sampadam aasurim
ajnaanam caabhijaatasya / paartha sampadam aasurim
"Pride, arrogance, conceit, anger, harshness and ignorance — these qualities belong to those of demoniac nature, O son of Prthaa."
In the purport to the above verse - Srila Prabhupada gives a punching statement which very nicely enlightens us by saying what these qualities can do to us. He says - "In this verse, theroyal road to hell is described." The following acronym will help us to remember what are the qualities that will take us to hell.
APACHI - Arrogance, Pride, Anger, Conceit, Harsh-speech, Ignorance - Srila Prabhupada has assured us that the qualities A P A C H I which have been mentioned by Krishna in the above verse, will definitely take us to hellish planets. So we should always keep a check on ourselves whenever these qualities try to crop up in our life. In this regard, we came across a nice short-story about two roosters. Two roosters lived in a village. They were close friends But one day they fought for supremacy in the farmyard. Finally one was defeated and the other rooster went back to hen house. The victorious rooster flew up to the roof of the barn and began to crow, "I’ve won, I’ve won!". Suddenly, an eagle swooped down and carried him away as its prey. The rooster that had been defeated suddenly found himself unchallenged master of the farmyard.
Indeed as Srila Prabhupada has mentioned, pride paved the royal road to hell for the rooster. During winter times frogs by their croaking sound, invite their enemy snake - Similarly many a times, we invite danger by pride and arrogance. Victory or loss is determined by the Lord and we are not the owners of whatever qualities we may seem to possess. Krishna is the ultimate owner of everything and we are at the best only trustees (provided we act according to the will and directions of the Lord in managing those posessions) and we should always be aware of this fact that the seemingly so called qualifications that we may have, is nothing but temporary rented powers. As soon as the Lord sees that we are becoming conscious of these qualifications and begin to claim ownership, immediately the Lord withdraws them from us.

We pray at the lotus feet of Gurudev, so that we disown this APACHI and instead take shelter of Srimad Bhagavatam wherein the glorious qualities of Lord and His devotees are mentioned. Simply by meditating on those qualities, we can purify our consciousness as well.
Thank you very much.
