Srila Prabhupada had received a letter from Madhudvisa Swami indicating that he had arrived in New York and commenced his service as GBC. He invited Srila Prabhupada to attend the forthcoming Ratha-yatra there, and added that he hoped everything was going on nicely in Australia.
Prabhupada replied:
I have sent you, and I have experienced that you have done nicely in Melbourne and so you are the right one to organise the New York centre. I am here in your temple; I am feeling your separation. But, I am seeing everything is going nicely, the same as when it was under your management. The devotees here, they are jumping and dancing very nicely.
As far as the Ratha-yatra festival was concerned, Prabhupada replied:
Ratha-yatra, that will be your achievement. Nobody has done it before. Ratha-yatra in New York should have been introduced long ago, but there were no competent men to do it. So Krishna has sent you there and most likely I shall attend the New York Ratha-yatra. New York is the place where I first landed and now we have our own place and books, so if you do it very nicely, it will be a great triumph.
