After a two-hour stop over, Prabhupada boarded his Qantas flight to Hawaii. Prabhupada's constant travelling was exactly in the mood of a wandering sannyasi. Travelling, Prabhupada stressed, did not mean aimless wandering or pleasure-seeking. Rather, while travelling, the preacher had to do some substantial work for the Krsna consciousness movement.
Prabhupada's life followed rhythm: touring, preaching and managing, interspersed with periods of writing and translating. Although the two types of activities were not always compatible -- one was fast-paced and vigorously outgoing, the other intensely meditative -- both were necessary for the successful dissemination of Krsna consciousness.
Prabhupada had often said that one of his goals in travelling the world was to train his leaders so that he could ultimately stop travelling, stop managing, and just sit in one place and write. Yet, when Satsvarupa had recently asked him: "What about your expressed desire to go somewhere where there will be no visitors so you can write?" Prabhupada had laughed dismissively. "That will not be possible for me in this lifetime," he said.
