Around mid-morning, Srila Prabhupada noticed a strong, choking spicy smell of chillies in the air and called for Upendra.
"Are you cooking, Upendra?" Prabhupada asked.
"Yes, Srila Prabhupada."
"You are cooking too spicy," Prabhupada admonished.
"Oh, it's not for you, Srila Prabhupada," explained Upendra. "I'm cooking for the devotees."
"They should not eat spicy food either." Prabhupada reminded Upendra that too much spicy food arouses the passions, insisting that, in future, Upendra season his cooking more sparingly.
