Srila Prabhupada's Dependence on His Guru

Srila Prabhupada was a nitya-siddha maha-bhagavata, sent by Krsna from the spiritual world to save us all. He was so bold and convinced, he took on the whole world for Krsna. In one sense, he did not need a guru, because he was always perfect, never forgot Krsna, and was never in illusion. Nevertheless, he always felt himself to be totally dependent on the mercy of his spiritual master.

My spiritual master was no ordinary spiritual master. He saved me. (Lilamrta Vol. 3, p. 162)

So somehow or other, it has begun, the blessings of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, as he wanted me, he desired me. I am not very expert or educated or nothing extraordinary, but only thing is that I believed in his word. You can say that is my qualification. I believed cent per cent in his word. So whatever success is there, it is just due to my firm faith in his instruction. (Lecture, 690207)

Srila Prabhupada's dependence on his guru was not simply a show to teach us. It was a deeply felt realization on the highest level of spiritual exchange -- so deep that when a devotee tried to induce Srila Prabhupada to talk about it, Srila Prabhupada cut him off: "That is not your business!"
