During his stay in Malaysia, Prabhupada had met an Indian gentleman whose wife was from Mathura. She had cooked kacauris for Srila Prabhupada which were so perfectly made that Prabhupada asked Bali-mardana and Vegavan to learn how to cook them from her.
They knew that the dough had to be rolled thinly, the filling put in just right, and the edges folded precisely -- and they tried their best. But Prabhupada again found the lunch unsatisfactory. Not only were the kacauris too thick and raw, but the rice was half-cooked and gritty.
Prabhupada patiently entered the kitchen and again gave the devotees an impromptu cooking class. He showed them how to prepare fluffy rice, cooked to perfection, and, with the same dough and filling, manufactured expert kacauris. Rolling out thin discs of pastry and quickly placing the filling in the centre, Prabhupada folded the edges, and slapped them -- 'one, two, three,' -- and they were ready to fry. Prabhupada took it as his duty to train his young disciples; Bali-mardana and Vegavan took the training as great mercy.
