Remain Eternal Servants of Srila Prabhupada

Devotee: The question was when we take initiation from you, we understand that we become your eternal servitors.

Srila Prabhupada:  Yes, but if you remain eternally in the instruction. If you fall from the instruction, how can you remain eternal? You have to stay on the platform, then eternally you are safe. If you fall down from the platform, then it is your fault. Just like we all in Vaikuntha. Now, we wanted to enjoy this material world, and we fell down, just like Jaya and Vijaya. Now we are trying to go back home again. Therefore we say, "Go back to home, back to Godhead." There is a process. If you follow the process, then you go back. If you fall down, that is your fault. Therefore life is meant for tapasya. That is Risabhadeva’s Instruction, that our life should not be wasted like dogs and hogs. It should be utilized for tapasya, for understanding our position. This is the aim of life. We have to purify our existence. At the present moment our existence is impurified. Therefore we are subjected to birth, death, old age and disease. And as soon as we purify ourself, then we are not subjected to these four material laws.

Trust no future. We must always be ready for destruction. The material world is like that. Canakya Pandita said, "Avoid bad men’s company. Always try to associate with the learned, with the devotees. Avoid this worldly men’s association and try to associate with devotees—and then always think that everything here in this material world is for a few days only." That’s all. Don’t associate with materialistic persons, try to associate with devotees, and always think that everything here in this material world is for a few days only" That’s all. Don’t associate with materialistic persons, try to associate with devotees, and always think that this world is for a few days.—And act piously, day and night.

This should be our motto....
