On my zoom call with a group from the east coast (I alternate with the west coast each week) we dwell on the concept of giving thanks and how it is instinctively human to do so. It is also a reality for practically every species of life. When the Pilgrims from the U.K. sailed their way to the New World in the 1600’s they established a rapport with the Indigenous people who taught about survival strategies by way of susentance. That noble and kind gesture led to the Thanksgiving feast.
Now, on the menu were items that strict followers of bhakti yoga are not inclined to indulge being vowed vegetarian/vegans, but all the same the act of giving for living is something to be honoured. Nature which acts through the kind dictates of the Lord offers us all so many resourceful benefits. Just yesterday I had a look at the sky, the clouds, the sun. I was simply reminded that these resources are so benevolent. How would we ever survive without them and their Blesser, the Supreme !
Gratitude! There is nothing like it. I was especially blessed this evening by a visit from a sweet couple, Nimoi Nitai and Moksha Lila, who came to share in the last couple of hours of the day with the simplest and most under-rated of all human functions. The act of walking! My ! My ! How wonderful it is to be able to use that agency helping the heart, the blood, the flow of life airs within the body.
Thank you ! Thank you Krishna !
