Q& A Round

1.  Karma, Jnana, Dhyana and Bhakti all are attached to the word Yoga so what is Yoga Siddhi?

I will try to the best of my ability to answer the questions below. These are not my realizations, Im just repeating what Iv learnt from Prabhupad and my gurus so far.

Ans. 1)Yoga means connecting to God.Karma Yoga means connecting to God through our karmas,Gyan Yoga Means connecting to God through knowledge- reading and understanding scriptures,Dhyan Yoga  means to connect to God through meditation and Bhakti Yoga means to connect to God through Bhakti.-loving devotional service. From authoritative sources we learn that the chanting of the holy name is the embodiment of the perfection of yogafor this age.  in Bhagavad-gītā Kṛṣṇa says that the actual yogī is he who has surrendered himself "fully unto Me." Kṛṣṇa proclaims that there is no difference between renunciation (sannyāsa) and yoga.In Bhagavad-gītā there are three basic types of yoga delineated—karma-yoga, jñāna-yoga andbhakti-yoga. The systems of yoga may be likened to a staircase. Someone may be on the first step, someone may be halfway up, or someone may be on the top step. When one is elevated to certain levels, he is known as akarma-yogī, jñāna-yogī, etc. In all cases, the service to the Supreme Lord is the same. It is just a difference in elevation .In Kṛṣṇa consciousness. One simply has to fight for Kṛṣṇa, work for Kṛṣṇa, eat for Kṛṣṇa, sleep for Kṛṣṇa and dedicate all activities to Kṛṣṇa. In this way one becomes the highest yogī and the highest sannyāsī.

2. I have yet to see a priest who could ignite fire by rubbing to woods and Iskcon has many Yajnic brahmans are they not trained to ignite fire by rubbing two woods together?

Ans 2.) In kaliyuga we may attempt to perfect Karma yoga, Dhyan yoga or Gyan yoga but it is very difficult, practically impossible due to the degradation of the age . We do not have the capability to observe it to perfection. Hence it gets difficult to perform things like  generating fire by rubbing two pieces of wood etc. This would have been easy in the previous ages but in the age of Kali the only prescribed yoga is Bhakti yoga- pth of loving devotional service in the mood of a servant and  chanting of the holy name. There may beYajnic brahmans who can perform these yagyas but not many. What is most important is devotion to the Lord.

3. It is not easy to chant when we do not have taste for the holy name?

Ans 3.) Taste for the holy name is very difficult get even after practicing Krishna Consciousness for many years. Our heart and mind is so full of various kinds of anarthas that the holy name feels bitter and seems like a monumental task. But the only way to counteract this impediment is to chant the holy name. If a child who is learning how to walk keeps falling, he cannot think that I will find another way to learn how to walk. There is just one way to learn how to walk- to get up with the help of the floor and keep practicing. And one day he does learn. Similarly the only way to get the taste for the holy name is to keep chanting even if it does not appeal to us, and ne day we pray that we will get the taste for the holy name. Krishna will help.

4.How are Vedic Brahmanas different from devotees both are doing service to the Lord I have seen in
many Sri Vaisnava Temples.

Ans 4.) In this age of Kaliyuga everyone is a born Shudra. Just by taking birth in a Bramhin family one does not become a bramhin. One becomes a bramhin by his deeds. So birth is not a measure .If a person learns the scripture and lives a life of a bramhin, he is considered one according to Krishna.
