ABOUT US:
The Madhava’s: The only sure thing about life is that…it changes. And music is the most inseparable part
of life as a whole. As such, the most inherent characteristic of music
is that it is as dynamic as life itself. Experimenting with such
ideology, we are regarded as one of the most vivid and energetic
originators of nu-age music. Open to a wide range of pragmatism we
stretch our compositions to the horizons of fusion with respect to
music, rhythms, instrument usage, language and overall appeal keeping
in mind the prevalent trend.
Making the most of the opportunity to share about ourselves, let’s take a walk in to our band’s life
exploring it right from its adolescence, through its formative years to
its current status and primarily about how we believe that God himself
has chosen us to do our duties in a way so as to set an example for all
mankind. While staying in the world full of ‘Maya’ we spread HIS
message through the universal language and irresistible charisma of
‘Music’!
Music is the food of soul, somebody said, and we’re mere instruments trying to resonate in unison with it
in an effort to achieve the perfect note that has the power to
resurrect/liberate the soul and achieve eternal bliss. This is one
language that can connect directly with the heart and the soul of the
rich and poor, the weak and the strong, the master and the slave,
alike, and knows no boundaries, whatsoever. As such we chose to walk on
the road to salvation while performing our worldly duties.
Rock has always been an expression for us as it symbolizes youth, energy and freedom. All these
characteristics define us entirely at this age. Spiritual inclination
has no age limits, the sooner the better. It is said even one lifetime
is enough to attain perfection. So we’re simply trying to make the most
of our available time on earth in the human form.
We don’t literally preach, instead we ourselves follow the path of spiritual living by practicing simple
living right from food habits to a positive mindset and enriching our
lives by the power of prayer, self-discipline and good association. So
whatever we implement on ourselves has a direct impact on our outlook
and disposition that is clearly evident to others. As such a silent
psychological preaching takes place every time we come in contact with
the outer world.
Our band started as most regular bands but soon realized its ever-growing potential with the inclination of
few of its members towards divinity. Moreover, most of us come from
families that have strong roots into Indian Classical music and a
harmonious balance of passion and professionalism. We walk on the same
footsteps and have a pragmatic approach to life while realizing its
ultimate purpose. Our objective is not money or power and the
associated vices but spreading peace and the message of
self-realization and the ultimate goal of life. We put it in to
practice by being open to spiritual shows and being an inexpensive band
with respect to quality and content of performance. All our band
members practice meditation in one form or the other and have a
balanced lifestyle in terms of profession and devotion.
We aspire to continue to be Rock Icons with a spiritual message to the world and are working on launching an
album dedicated to our Creator as our gratitude for this human life.
Besides this we have been continuously spreading message of
brotherhood, world-peace and equality through small endeavours in the
form of non-commercial videos based on people living below poverty-line
and anti-terrorism video Mumbai Attack 26/11 etc. All the resources
required for such projects are the sole effort of the band and a humble
contribution for our feelings to reach the world against all odds.
Youth today is perplexed and disoriented in his approach primarily because of lack of faith and
devotion in self and the Supreme. Self-realization is the key to
God-realization. The youth needs to channelize its energy in to
constructive thinking and refrain from weaknesses like drugs, alcohol,
lust, rage and the like. They need to focus on the positive and
eventually the nectar of life will start to flow enriching their
worldly as well as heavenly experience.

Who’s Who?
The active band comprises of six people with the lead guitarist staying true to his title, leading the band; the bassist, overwriting all myths of feminism; the rhythm guitarist,
adapting to the strokes of his technical and artistic life; and the
apple of everybody’s eyes, the two singers! Sincerely, each one of us
has actually traded something or the other dear to him/her to attain
the level and understanding of the music that we create or play now and
a keyboard player which is a new addition to the band.
The Lead guitarist Nirdosh Sobti,
(or the coordinator as we call him), was basically a keyboard player who switched on to learning guitar because a decent keyboard was a
costlier affair than a simple six-string. It was only later that he
found out that AC-DC, Gary Moore, Joe Satriani were a better choice
with guitars than Adnan Sami who was his Idol with the keyboards.
Afterwards, his Years of practice on guitar made him so good in guitar
skills that in the year 2009 he became a famous face for the youth by
becoming the best guitarist of India. It was a reality show on Channel
“Mtv” called “Kurkure Desi Beats Rock On with Mtv” where Nirdosh
grabbed top position after competing with more than 5000 candidates
across the nation by 75% votes and being judged by some of the great
music maestros of film industry like Kailash Kher, Ram Sampath and
Nikhil Chinappa- The VJ.
Along with this, Nirdosh also learnt the art of Recording and mixing techniques and now producing his band’s music himself and directing music for others as well.
The Bassist Nama Bhakti Devi Dasi,
who happens to be the coordinator’s sister has her cap’s unique feathers coming from a family of musicians polished by Indian classical
music and has taken formal education in vocals. She completed her
Master of Arts in the year 2007 during which she joined the band. She
was encouraged to play bass guitar by her brother. Though it was a
tough challenge for her because she couldn’t even lift the huge sized
bass guitar easily in her initial stages and still she is as tall as
her bass guitar is!!! Her speed and accuracy on the bass strings is the
result of playing Sitar for her Master’s degree in Music.
The Rhythmic man Jaspal Saib (J.C),
has had his share of exposure through open and tuned ears primarily, and his technical skill-set has proved to be a boon at countless occasions. All the band members agrees that after he joined the band in
late 2007, his experience helped a lot the band to grow more
professional and achieved a lot later on. Being the eldest he has to
bear more than the guitar’s weight on his shoulders.
A Design Engineer by profession, he had to work hard to balance in his passion and profession both and for this he also had to sacrifice so many things which is a tough call
for anyone to take. His rockstar attitude always pushed him to the
extreme thoughts and also implementing them with dedication.
The male vocalist turned guitarist Gagan Deep Singh,
coming from a slightly rustic background with his never give up attitude has surpassed all physical and mental barriers in achieving what it takes to be a die-hard Rocker and ‘that’ is clearly visible.
Not only this, he supported the band in bad times also which is the
most difficult thing to handle when it comes to make a decision either
to carry on with the band or should chose some other way to save side
his own carrier. He is amongst the oldest members of the band and have
seen all the ups and downs since the band was formed in a college where
all of them were pursuing Diploma in Mechanical engineering.
Our female vocalist Neha Behl, an Architect engineer,
left her passion of designing interiors and joined the band in her college days. The femme fatale vocals rendered with that raspy tone and a peculiar style has given our band an edge in the commercial market
catering to the feminine Rockers and also leaving the masochists agape.
Her unique voice is what attracted our coordinator (Nirdosh) in the
beginning phase that he tried all ways to make her the vocalist of the
band. Though initially she always hesitated to sing on stage and always
underestimated herself. Slowly she also realized that her voice texture
is brilliant in singing songs which needs lot of energy along with
melodies in it. Apart from this she is regarded as the most sympathetic
personality in the band who always care for others and encourage
everyone to give their best short each time.
The Synth-player Harsh Sobti,
who is Nirdosh’s cousin, is a latest addition to the band when they felt the need of it. Born and brought up in a family where bread and butter comes from music only, he has learnt the ethnic style of playing
Harmonium by associating with his father and helping him in
accompanying while his father use to sing. Later on he took piano
lessons from Nirdosh on regular basis and finally got shortlisted for
the same post in the band and now he is very fluent in playing piano
simultaneously.
