Prabhupada's books are time bombs
It was hot summer day in May 2003. I was preparing for medical entrance exam and was completely exhausted by the long hours I had put. Add to it the tremendous anxiety about carrier and future. I desperately wanted to read some inspiring book, which would give me some peace of mind. I started searching books on the shelf. In the corner was Bhagavad-gita As It Is. It had been kept on my book shelf for nearly ten years.
I opened it and began to read. I realized that every verse in the Gita was related to me and the Gita had solutions to my problems. I started reading it everyday in between my studies. I did not know who Srila Prabhupada was and what ISKCON was?
When the results came out I got a few marks less for admission and therefore, I decided to drop one year and prepare for the next year's entrance exam. Now my anxiety levels doubled. I was alone without any friend around. My world consisted of science books, studies and Bhagavad-gita.
I read gita for one year. At the end of the year when the result was out I got admission in Grant
Medical College, Mumbai. When I arrived in the hostel, I came to know that there was some
spiritual program in a room. When I arrived in the room I saw photos of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura along with them was my Bhagvat Gita. I realized why Lord Krishna gave me admission in this college. Since, then I started associating with devotees and attending regular talks on the philosphy of Bhagavad-gita. This changed my life from
material to spiritual.
Srila Prabhupada said books are the basis. He took so much trouble to write books in the middle of night at the age of 70 only for us. H.H. Radhanath Maharaj once said, "We should read Srila Prabhupada's books to show our gratitude towards him."
Devotees distribute these books in each and every corner of the world. These books are like time bombs. Really, some unknown devotee planted that time bomb in my home, which exploded after 10 years...
