Poem

Once upon a time, a man found a magical lamp
That could materialise his dream of total life-revamp
He could rub the lamp and summon a genie,
Who was at his beck and call and helped him earn money
Only condition ever, this crazy genie had
That if left idle and bored,
Genie would attack the man and leave him dead.
Man kept the genie engaged and made a fortune
Genie kept dancing to his master’s tunes
One day this man got tired and wanted to take a break
Genie came to know this and started going berserk
Man didn’t know what to do,
So he rushed to his revered guru
Only question he wanted to ask
Was how to engage genie in an endless task.
Genie must dig up a hole and install a flagpole
Keep climbing up and down, while master rests a while
Our mind is like this genie, idle mind is devil’s workshop
You must engage it properly, for it to properly develop
Chanting beads become your pole, go up and down in your free time
At least for two hours everyday, during your entire lifetime.
Pole ll reach the spiritual world one day, you wouldn’t need to climb down
Chanting elevates your consciousness, and Krishna never lets you down.
Those who chant holy names don't need the magical genie
Desires are fulfilled by nama-cintamani.
Hare Krishna!
