Once upon a time SP said to his devotees that " Grahastas are Great but Brahmcharyas are safe...!,So become brahmcharya and be safe. "I don't understandHow Grahast LIfe is Better than Brahmcharya Life...?How Grahastas are gr8 than Brahmcharyas..?Plz remove my confusion...!Hare Krishna...To allHari Bol...!
Good Reply by Harish Prabhu. No need to explain it further.
But just one comment Srila Prabhupada spoke different things at different times and places. One should or rather must understand the context in which he said that. E.g, Prabhupada said in one temple that all the boys should remain bramhamacharis and other time when he was his lady disciples who were nicely training girls he said make sure that all of them get nicely married to devotees. One devotee asked that Prabhupada how was that possible if all the boys remain bramacharis as he had mentioned earlier. Prabhupada said, " That is the only contradiction in our movement." (As told by HG Vaiyasaki Prabhu)
Please accept my humble view on this. As far as I see this Brahmacari are safe, because they are fully dedicating themselves on Spiritual Activities. They don't have to be directly engaged in business, home, wife, family, children etc. So from that point of view they are safe. The forementioned items are only stumble blocks in Maya. However, Grihastas are great or can be great because they have to be brahmacaris within (renounced) yet engage in all types of material services for the pleasure of Krishna. The grahastas have to act, thereby bring Lakshmi into the society through their Karma - activities. From their Krishna Conscious Karma they earn living and are able to support the other 3 Varna-Ashrams of the society.
Also Grihastas are great in the sense that Krishna gives them an opportunity to engage in His service by bringing a Good Vaisnava population on earth, who will later become great brahmacaris, grihastas, and ultimately great Sanyasis who will educate the entire world with Spiritual knowledge. If grihastas weren't there how would the population of Krishna Conscious devotees increase in this world???
I hope that my answer is o.k. Otherwise I also request senior devotees to enlight us upon this subject matter.
