Parable of a Dead Donkey

  • Parable of a Dead Donkey:-

Maataji has very beautifully narrated a parable of a dead donkey just to explain as how a devotee can use the situation of his crisis period / bad days / weak position and divert himself towards God and gain multiple times like a character in a parable of a Dead Donkey…..and the parable starts like this…..

Once upon a time, in USA, there was one person, who was in deep financial crisis.  He has brought one roaming Donkey to his house.  His wife asked as what he will do with that Donkey and moreover, it is an additional burden to them as they have to feed this donkey.  Then that person told his wife, don’t worry, I will do something with this donkey.

Therefore, the person decided to sell the donkey and make some money.  But in these rocket days, no one has the need of donkey, especially in USA.

The owner of the donkey wants to come out of his critical financial position, for which, he draws one plan.

In USA, there is a craze to participate in lottery draw whether it is beneficial or not, useful or not.  Therefore, the owner of the donkey gives paper advertisement that he wish to sell his donkey for 2 Dollars and whoever wins the Lottery, they will get the donkey, just for 2 Dollars.

Looking at the advertisement, 1000s of people purchase the lottery ticket.  Unfortunately, just a day before the draw of lottery, the donkey dies.  The donkey’s owner’s wife becomes tense as how he will sell the dead donkey and who will accept it.

The next day, at the time of lottery, 1000s of people gathered for the draw.  Arrangements were made such that the dead donkey was decorated so nicely and it was made to stand such that no one would recognize that it was dead.

Finally, the lottery draw was taken and the winner was declared.  After declaring the winner, all others have left the place and the winner claimed for the donkey from the owner.

The owner of the donkey has very intelligently convinced the winner of the lottery ticket saying “Congratulations for winning the Lottery!!!  Here is the donkey and you can take….but your daily expenditure will be more than 2 Dollars for feeding this donkey.  If you still wish to take, you can take the donkey, otherwise, I offer you 4 Dollars to you in place of this Donkey, so that your investment on lottery ticket is doubled and you would also escape from daily 2 Dollars expenditure on this donkey for feeding the grass.

The winner of the lottery happily accepts the deal and takes 4 Dollars from the owner of the donkey.  And the owner of the (dead) donkey has made 1000s of Dollars in this lottery deal and has once for all came out of his deep financial crunch.

Here, Mataaji wants us to convey the message that as how a dead body of a donkey was utilized for earning money / fortune, similarly, one can also turn one’s very bad days/times into a great fortune by diverting into spiritual and devotional services by considering whatever God does, he does for our own good and purification….
