By the mercy of Srila Prabhupada, ISKCON Malaysia organized a phenomenal virtual Damodara program on Nov 1, 2020.
The virtual festival saw the attendance of 6,538 people from around the world, including Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia and South American countries.
The event utilised the Zoom videotelephony software programme.
The number of participants this year exceeded the previous record of 1,360 people, which was the Largest Participation in a Virtual Deepavali event, as listed by the Malaysian Book of Records.
The event was graced by HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaj, Co GBC for Malaysia, who gave a short address on the glories of the Karthik month to all present.
ISKCON Malaysia pioneered the conducting of mass Damodara programs in the year 2001. Since then, they have introduced the Damodara Harinama, school programs with sastra dhana and Prasad distribution, Damodara carolling, and several other preaching methods that highlight the importance of this most auspicious month. During Karthik 2019, ISKCON Malaysia distributed a total of 87,488 free meals and 10,303 books; in addition, 228,770 lamps were offered to Lord Krsna in programs that were conducted in schools nationwide.
