Leaders of Iskcon from Zone One in Canada and Northern US converged happily at the Holiday Inn for our Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Our meeting opened up with a Land Acknowledgement which I read, “We acknowledge the lands which constitute the present-day City of Missassauga as being part of the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, The Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations. We recognize these peoples and their ancestors as peoples who inhabited these lands since time immemorial. The City of Mississauga is home to many Global Indigenous Peoples.”

In addition to this recognition, I made available to the attendees my favourite quotes from our guru, Prabhupada.

Lessons for Leaders

I-NOTE

I Improvement: You should not remain for a moment without thought of improving ISKCON activity… The balance money and energy should be employed for pushing forward Krishna’s mission.

N Not to kill the spirit: Our leaders should be careful not to kill the spirit of enthusiastic service which is individual, spontaneous and voluntary. They should always generate some atmosphere of fresh challenge to the devotees so that they will agree enthusiastically to rise and meet it. That is the art of management. To draw out spontaneous loving spirit of sacrificing some energy for Krishna. There must be always some tapasya, strictly observing the regulative principles. As big managers, try to train up more and more competent preachers and managers.

O Overnight: Our GBC members should always visit the different temples to see that management is being done very nicely.
