In the late 1960s, while Srila Prabhupada was translating and
commenting on his monumental edition of the Srimad-Bhagavatam, he
conceived of writing a book which would contain the essential
teachings of the Bhagavatam as he was not sure how long he would
remain manifest on this planet. He then composed a summary study of
the most celebrated portion of the Bhagavatam, the Tenth Canto, and
entitled it Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He often
referred to it as the “Krsna book”.
