Recently I bought a book by Sadananda Swami, the German sannyasi godbrother of Srila Prabhupada, a disciple of Srila Bhaktisiddhantha. This was a book by him and his disciple Vamana das, who was a writer known in Austria known as Walter Eidlitz. Several of his books were also translated into English. Sadananda Swami wrote about suffering in the material world and then he said, “We should not have the misconception that Lord Caitanya’s movement is meant to, in any way, minimize the suffering of material existence.” He said, “It is not meant for that purpose, but rather it is meant to fill the emptiness in our heart.” So that was a very profound point actually. When I read that, I was thinking, “Wow, I have never really so clearly phrased that point, not even in my thoughts!”
But yes, the emptiness in the heart gets filled; the heart overflows when the ecstasy is there, just like Devaki whose heart was filled. Remember how Devaki conceived through the heart. It was Vasudev who originally conceived Krsna purely and that pure Krsna consciousness was transferred to the heart of Devaki who then conceived of that love for Krsna and then the Lord manifested in her womb.
