My travelling companions, Mahadev and Annapurna, are splendid to work with. After a good night’s rest in Gonanogue Inn, we decided some footwork is necessary and that time be given to at least an hour of walking. I started at the 1000 Islands Casino (I didn’t go in) and headed east on highway 2. The couple drove ahead at the 5 km mark, stopped, got out of the van heading in my direction. We met, walked towards the parked van at an old church. I couldn’t resist taking a pic of the two standing by the rustic edifice.
Rain came at that moment. Quick ! In the van and off to the farm at Nandagram, 25 minutes from Montreal, we go !
In the fields where wet long grass caresses the footwear, we headed for the tent where over 100 kirtan enthusiasts enjoy mantra music. Despite the drizzle there is fun in the air. For a second day in a row for chanting, the response was phenomenal. So much warmth came from this crowd. It was mostly a white community here whereas at yesterday’s Peterborough venue, predominantly brown. There is no difference for the soul. We are all one in that regard. The atom or the soul takes to spiritual things regardless of bodily identity.
What a party it was ! All got off their cheeks to dance up a storm to mantra, harmonium, lead and base guitar, mridanga drum, kartals and devotional voices.
