Loving Exchanges in the Community of Devotees

Without the attractiveness of loving activities in the association of devotees, how will others be attracted? When coming into the association of those who are engaged in the process of devotional service, it will only be natural to examine the nature of the relationships that exist among them. The austerities that come with an institution result from persons that don't have loving exchanges with one another. Either they don't know how to, or they are reluctant to, or they have some other kind of problem with associating with one another in a loving way. Instead, they try to bring the unwanted baggage of how they are used to associating into the temple or ashram. However, this principle of dadati pratigrhnati, charity in the community of devotees, is necessary, not only for awakening the Krsna consciousness of society in general, but for awakening our own Krsna consciousness.-- Adapted from lectures given by Srila Romapada Swami on Nectar of Instruction, Text 4, in May of 1992 and 1994Source: http://www.romapadaswami.com/node/2601
