Vaikuntha put us on the road for Regina. The sky, clouds and valleys are scenic. Of course, there are the herds of cattle, grazing. Human population is sparse until one gets to Regina. And next to Regina is White City where we ventured.
One of the first homes in White City and established in the early 70’s is the house of Jagannath and Chintomani, who pioneered Krishna Consciousness in the province. They deserve our visit. He is 92 and she is 87. Health is challenging these days, especially for her. A road accident did her health a disservice. Life is not very mobile for both of them. They are resting and relaxing in that original house in the town that has since those early days exploded with other residences. And trees, like nowhere else have populated.
After some date squares and cherries Vaikuntha was kind to leave us at our accommodation during our stay in Regina. The time zone changes we encounter with our travel throws me off somewhat. I chimed in a few minutes late for Tuesday night’s Gita chat on zoom. Verse 7.27 is quite significant as it addresses a classic question that people ask, in relation to the soul’s descent to the physical world of maya. Why ?
The answer lies in this verse - our strong desires and contempt. In other words the extreme sides of love and hate. Hate, we can appreciate as a liability. Period. But when love is diverted and limited to the self alone without consideration for life around us then we are indeed diverted and tend to get locked in to a conditioning that can keep us stuck forever, or at least a long time.
