KRISHNA......OUR REAL FRIEND

Mention the word Mahabharat, which warrior comes to your mind? Most probably Arjun. How many people would say Krishna? It was Arjun who killed the great Bhishma. It was Arjun who killed Drona. It was Arjun who killed Jaydrata. How about Krishna? Krishna was just a charioteer, following the commands of Arjun.

While Arjun was standing in his elevated beautiful chariot under the shade of a very beautiful umbrella, Krishna was sitting at his feet, under the hot sun, dutifully driving the chariot, his body smeared with dust from the battlefield, accepting all the arrows shot at Him by the enemies without a single sigh.

Each day, after the battle, all the warriors praised and applauded Arjun for his skillful handling of the arrows. At that time, Krishna will be busy grooming the horses and giving them food and drink. His face blooms like a blue lotus when he hears the praise upon Arjun.

The fact is Arjun could have done nothing without the help of Sri Krishna. However, Krishna passed all the credits to his devotee Arjun. He remained as a humble charioteer. Is there such a friend in the three worlds? The answer is a flat NO.

On the eighth day of the war, Arjun fought terribly with Bhishma , the grandsire. Arjun is definitely not a match for Bhishma, who is far more expert than Arjun in martial art. Arjun was having a very tough time. Bhishma, on the other hand, simply was testing whether Krishna will keep his promise that He will not fight, or protect His devotee, Arjun. So, Bishma showed all his prowess and Arjun was almost lost… At that time, Krishna, threw away the reins in his hands and jumped from the chariot like a lion….Angrily, with his lotus eyes, as red as copper, he looked around and found a chariot wheel….Immediately, he grabbed the chariot wheel in a great speed and holding it with his hand like his own Sudarshan cakra, he ran towards Bhishma like a furious lion…..His body was full of dust from the battlefield, His Vaijayanthimala was swinging to and fro, right to left and His whole body was trembling in anger….He shouted….”Watch out Bhishma!” The whole place looked as though frozen. All the other warriors stopped fighting and looked with unblinking eyes at Krishna……What is going to happen? What will Krishna do? They could not check admiring His beauty in His angry mood as well.

At that time, Arjuna jumped and grabbed Krishna’s feet and reminded him of his promise “He Keshav, you promised that you will not even take a stick in the fight…what are you doing now?” But Krishna couldn’t be bothered. His promise was nothing to him compared to the life of Arjun…… He kept running with his leg grabbed by Arjun…..

As for Bhishma, this is the moment he wanted….He dropped all his weapons and raised his arms…He called Krishna with love “ Come Vasudeva, come…..this is what I was waiting for…..this is the most glorious moment in my life!” But Arjun, pleaded Krishna to stop as he will never tolerate Krishna defamed for breaking His promise…..After listening to this, Krishna dropped that wheel, and the conch was blown indicating that it is time to stop the war for the day….He walked back like a lion to the chariot… Bhishma simply admired Krishna with tears in his eyes….How much Krishna loves his devotees…….

When Arjun was confused about his duties at the beginning of the war, it was Krishna who reminded Arjun of his promise…Arjun had promised to destroy the whole Kaurava sena. Krishna reminded him that if he fails to do so, he will be dishonored and for a great Kshatriya like Arjun, defame is worse than death.

But now, the same Krishna attempted to break his promise and he did not bother for his defame for the sake of Arjun……. That is what we call a real friend……We must accept the fact that we can find true happiness only when we come in contact with Krishna….nobody else can make us happy……..

KRISHNA IS OUR ONLY REAL FRIEND……..THE ONE AND ONLY
