Krishna-- Devadideva

Lord Krishna is the central and most powerful God in the Hindu pantheon. He represents all aspects of Human emotion. He is also the creator as well as the destroyer. Lord Krishna is omnipresentin Hindu thought and philosophy. He is the most powerful of the Gods and his presence is all pervading. He is also a God who was a non-Brahman and the Bhagwad Gita or the Song Divine is attributed to him. The Bhagwad Gita lays down the essence of the Hindu faith and brings out the immortality of the soul.

There are many legends associated with Lord Krishna, but the legend that relates that lord carried away the Princess Rukmani is the most exciting and full of meaningful lessons. The princess Rukmani loved the Lord Krishna. The Lord came to know of her love for him and he decided to take her away from her palace. As he was a God he could easily have her transported herto his abode by his spiritual power, but as he had assumed the Human form he decided to pick her up and bring her to his abode in a chariot. Accordingly the Lord mounted his chariot and the horses knowing that a celestial being was to be taken, neighed in anticipation.

The Lord set forth and as he strung his bow the heavens flashed and thunder boomed again and again. He also by telepathy informed Rukmani that he was on his way and she waited reverentially for the arrival of the Lord. As the chariot of the Lord thundered forward, the horses kicked up a dust and the heaven broke asunder as the great God moved forward. He got his bow and arrows ready and the warrior in him emerged. This was one of the many manifestations of the Lord. As the Lord thundered forward he strung his bow and celestial music bestowed on him from the heavens. As the Lord Krishna approached he was opposed by mighty warriors, but he defeated all warriors who opposed him and none could stand against the Lord. Rukmani was delighted as the Lord stormed inside her palace and carried her away. All the warriors who opposed the Lord failed abjectly. None could match the Lords prowess with the weapons.
