This holy month of Karthik holds a special place in the hearts of devotees around the world, and our temple is enhancing this.
Kartik Maas, often referred to as the best among month for performing austerities, is a time when devotees intensify their spiritual practices to deepen their connection with Lord Krishna. The sacred scriptures describe Kartik as a month during which devotional activities bring about immense spiritual benefits too.
At ISKCON South Bangalore (Cultural Centre), we have orchestrated various events and programs to make this Kartik celebration a truly enchanting experience for all.
One of the highlights of our festivities is the opportunity for devotees and visitors to offer ghee lamps to the Lord. Every evening, the temple premises resonate with the melodious chanting of Hare Krishna, as devotees from different parts of Bangalore gather to illuminate the surroundings with the divine glow of these lamps.
The ritual of offering ghee lamps holds deep significance in the Kartik celebrations. It is believed that the Lord, in the form of Damodara, is pleased by the sincere offering of ghee lamps. As the flames flicker in the darkness, they symbolize the dispelling of ignorance and the awakening of spiritual knowledge within our hearts.
The enchanting Damodarastakam, a timeless prayer sung in praise of Lord Damodara, is a central part of our Kartik celebrations. Devotees join in the chorus, their hearts resonating with the profound verses that encapsulate the divine pastimes of Lord Krishna, especially His childhood leelas.
In our commitment to spreading the divine message, our devotees actively engage in outreach programs. As part of this initiative, we conduct programs in local communities and nearby schools, sharing the essence of Kartik Maas and inviting more people to join in the festivities. Through bhakti-filled discourses, kirtans, and interactive sessions, we aim to create an atmosphere of spiritual awakening and unity within our community.
Kartik celebrations at ISKCON South Bangalore are not just confined to the temple; they extend into the hearts of everyone who participates.
